I was negotiating with Keith Oliver of Fenlite Supplies regarding Duracell prices and delivery frequency. I refer to our conversation of today’s date where I told you of the prices offered by the D’Arcy Group, another merchandising service who were offering Duracell price of under £2.00 per card.

As agreed, you will discuss with Sarah at your next visit (in three weeks time) the possible provision of a 40-piece Duracell promotion pack for this forthcoming sales season which would cost Redgrave some £1.80-odd per pack and so improve these terms.

On the question of our call cycle, I understand that you are serving a dispersed geographical area which many small shops experiencing a decrease in demand.

I have, however, pointed out that we do not wish to be held back by other less successful shops and I have explained our policy of wanting to keep a well-balanced display of your lines housed on the racks without recourse to a stockroom.

Notwithstanding this,  as it happens that you are close to my Cambridgeshire base, we have agreed for the time being that we will cope with this long period between deliveries and in cases where we are running stock of items in the meantime, Sarah will do an interim order and you we will make arrangements for me to take it across.

Please note our ongoing requirements to be supplied competitively and efficiently with fully bar-coded products in view of our efforts to increase trade and that we seek suppliers committed to keeping us fully informed (without prompting) of special offers and prices, maximising our competitiveness and able to keep us continually stocked with ranges of fast moving lines.

To avoid stock-outs reliably based on a three-week delivery cycle means keeping a six/eight-week inventory which has cost and space requirements we are unlikely to continue to tolerate in the longer term.
