A very hot day of Comart Executive Annual Reviews and options as the House debates the Death Penalty
Another very hot and sunny day with temperatures again in the mid 80’s and over 90degF in the Eastern Region. This ‘ heat wave’ is already causing problems. Very few buildings in England, of course, have air conditioning and tempers become frayed and stress rises.
We are coping admirably in the factory, however, although Gerry Arch is on holiday and there is very little overtime being worked – the employees wanting to get out on time! Today a start on the mail and early consultations with John Lamb and Derek Weatherby. I am putting together my plans for rewarding my two main Managing Directors, Geoff Lynch and Peter King and Comart Sales Director, David Fear is starting a new commission scheme. After consultation with John and Derek I have decided on a Net Profit based commission scheme, netting both Geoff and Peter about £27K including £12K commissions. A Byte Shop share option is appropriate for Peter conditional upon UEH not taking up their 25% option in the Byte Shop Ltd. I call Geoff to my office next Tuesday for his annual review. At 9.30 I have David Slater of Nottingham in. I get him to withdraw his resignation and take an immediate two week holiday. He has become too tense and has lost confidence. Peter King will be targetted to help him. This afternoon I thankfully prepare all outstanding company books on Southampton, Nottingham and London and clear the way for expense approvals and review discussions as the next priority. This evening the House of Commons is debating The Death Penalty.
