My 38th birthday opening presents as my new Coat of Arms is approved and John, Brenda, David and Rebecca Tomblin come for tea and we join Eddie and Stella for a neighbourhood bonfire and fireworks on a cooler but clear evening
My 38th birthday and Diana brought me breakfast in bed as I read the mornings paper. A late lay in reading this, and the British Telecom share prospectus, before rising by 11.00 am to wash and dress. Presents and cards brought to bed and I had new cuff links, tie rack and to eat, honeycomb and chocolate. Lastly, a nice toilet bag with good selection of toiletries. As we were expecting several visitors this weekend, I decided to make a film of my birthday and situation, I was also prompted by the receipt of my full colour drawing of my Coat of Arms – now approved by the College of Arms.
I took a splendid family video
I also cleared out the duck house and fitted it with clean straw, which was much overdue. But this morning we all set off (except Daniel who was at school with a lunch picnic date to follow) for Biggleswade. During our shopping trip we bought apples, pears, cheese, bread and several other supplies before leaving to take lunch at The Happy Eater. Biggleswade is still a traditional market town, bypassed now by the A1M, and still remaining with free parking and free from the traffic and pedestrian congestion of some other towns. Still, off to lunch without Daniel, but a meal enjoyed nevertheless. Home via St Neots for some wood and then I start my film before the Tomblins arrived later on. John, Brenda, David and Rebecca Tomblin moved from the area a few years ago but they still return occasionally and we put them up or give them tea. Today, after a high tea and some replayed video films, we all went to Eddie and Stella’s riverside plot for a bonfire night. Guests from Eddie’s family and neighbours from all around came as a guy is burnt on the bonfire and communal fireworks are lit. We wave goodbye to the Tomblins and settle down to bed. The weather today much cooler but still clear and bright for our firework evening.
