A mild and dull day after a freezing cold night during which Sam was very sleepless and noisy. The family head for home after a good day shopping. The recent news was of more IRA bombings, this time in The West End of London.
After I thought that Sam had settled to a habit of undisturbed nights, I had a rude awakening both metaphorical and actual. He awoke at 1.44am and then proceeded to howl non-stop for an hour until I really had to go out and find out what was wrong. It was a bitterly cold night and I concluded that this was the probable reason for his anguish. His water was frozen and I think that his kennel was far too big for his body to warm it up. We resolved to improve his bedding and later I built a kennel within the kennel and bought some more substantial bedding in case it was needed. I had to reassure him and exercise him for a further hour in the night and then he woke up soon after 7.00am later on as usual.

We had a shopping day starting at Latham's of Potter Heigham and ending up at Roy's of Wroxham with trips to the pet shop and lunch at Beekay's in between. Diana bought an expensive car audio compact disc conversion kit for Daniel's Christmas present and then stayed until after teatime with the girls and then they left for home. Tired after my exertions and missed sleep, I had a relaxed evening. I bathed, washed my hair, updated my journal and then went to bed before 10.00pm hoping that Sam would sleep through. It was a mild and dull day after the freezing night as a contrast. The recent news was of more IRA bombings, this time in The West End of London.
