Back home I was writing to Toby Locke of ECR Software with regard to  EPOS problems

I am writing to confirm a number of problems we are currently experiencing with EPOS which I hope you are able to resolve for us.

"Cost prices - we are having ongoing problems with cost price corruption, finding from time to time random items (both Blakemore and non-Blakemore) with cost prices of a few pence.

Is there any way this could be caused by writing an incorrect field (eg quantity on hand) to the cost field during a routine? In dealing with this problem, we are finding that the unusual mark-up report does not highlight the majority of incorrect items.

What are the parameters of this report? Items with Gross margin of <10% and >90% are often not reported. As an example, on Saturday I discovered some 100 or more items in 25 sub groups with incorrect prices, with margins <10% or >90%.

Enclosed is a copy of the report from Saturday evening with none of these items listed.

2. Blakemore Update, Sell Price Missing - we are continuing to suffer from a lack of sell prices in the updates which we receive from Blakemore. This effectively renders our connection to them useless, and as we are now charged £6 for the pleasure it would be nice if we got something for it.

The HelpDesk and the Systems Department have independently confirmed to me that the information is there when they send it, so I am not able to progress the matter any further with them.

3. Sales by Supplier report - we are very pleased with the Sales by Supplier report which is very revealing. It continues to print out very slowly, but we are living with this until you are able to find a more efficient way of producing the information.

However, it does not appear to tally with the sales analysed on the Sub Group report and we cannot envisage any explanation for this discrepancy. Perhaps you could compare this with your own reports? I

have enclosed for your reference, a copy from the 28/10/96 along with the corresponding reports by Sub Group and by Group.

4. Finally, we are still awaiting your correction of the item count for Positive Account Transactions which we have reported on a number of occasions. We look forward to your early attention to these matters.
