Taking Sam with me to the shops to overcome his nervousness and then to see the Rev Peter Lewis with the service sheets and managing to start the Rolls Royce for my Dad’s funeral.
Walking out of a St Neots Café due to another customer smoking and then taking the family to lunch at The Willington Garden Centre and noting the poor state of the swimming pool.
A huge IRA bomb in a dumper truck in the City of London, injures 30 people with at least one killed;
I got Della to join me in taking Sam for a walk this morning, but the trouble was that he jumped up on her and put her in a bad mood. Even so, I made her continue to come with me and we took him to the local shops where Della got her Saturday sweets. Sam is no longer so used to shops and was quite nervous so that I will have to take him for a walk through the streets more often. I then joined the girls for a trip to St Neots, dropping off at the vicarage in St James Road on the way to see the Rev Peter Lewis with the service sheets.

It was still showery today and he was hoping for some better weather for a village wedding later. Coffee in Brackenbury’s and I then went to get my hair cut. I was sitting quite contentedly in the queue reading when a smoker lit up a cigarette right next to me. These days, I cannot stand the smell of tobacco smoke and so I walked out and went back to the car. Once Debbie was back from school, I took them all out for lunch to Willington Garden Centre and this made a change from Little Chefs and Happy Eaters. Whilst the girls read Mr Men books from a rack, Diana and I looked at the garden seats and loungers and decided that we should get some one day for Harnser and our trips to Wintringham.
Later this afternoon, I managed to start the Rolls Royce and took it for a ride. The brakes were very snatchy at first - probably due to corrosion of the brake discs - but it then settled down fine and seems available for the funeral on Monday. I put the battery back on charge again after the previous trouble. The weather brightened up later and I swept up the back garden and then vacuumed out the pool and adjusted the chemicals.
The volume of tree seed had blocked up the filters and then covered the bottom and now, although the water temperature is far too low for swimming, it looks attractive from the house again. There was a huge IRA bomb in a dumper truck in the City of London, 30 people were injured and at least one killed; but it seems that a billion pounds worth of damage was done to city buildings. Urban terrorism works as well in London as it does in New York.
