A slow start to the day after a late-night and then hearing of the demise of Mrs Burton opposite.
An aborted service for the Discovery at Mann Egerton due to lack of parts and then work at Harnser and I was loaned a Mini Metro instead of a Land Rover.
The row continues as Sein Fein release more papers revealing the scope of its negotiations with the government
I was up late last night working on my computer and was therefore most reluctant to wake up this morning when my radio gave me the call. The weather was mild again and I had no trouble getting out with the dog; stopping to chat to Doris on the way. She tells me of the fate of Mrs Burton opposite; now admitted to a psychiatric hospital suffering from depression and thought not able to return to her home in Ropes Hill Dyke.

Got the car to Mann-Egerton as arranged, having heard that they were not able to loan me a replacement Land Rover for the day as arranged. I was loaned a small metro instead that was so basic in its equipment that it did not even have a radio or a cigar socket for me to run the mobile telephone! They had the car for the day but I was disappointed later to learn that they could solve none of the faults; they had no parts for those that they found and could not find the rest! A bit of a wasted trip for me.
I spent the day at Harnser, starting to tighten up all of the bolts that hold the structural timbers together whilst continuing to monitor the fax broadcasts and judge the relative performance of my aerials. I had called in to a components shop on the way back and bought the parts to make a dipole. The row continues as Sein Fein release more papers revealing the scope of its negotiations with the government who have to issue a corrective statement to that issued earlier.
