A sunny then increasingly windy day setting off for a Bank Holiday shopping trip to Latham's and then a day trip to Winterton beach where Sam got infested with ticks and bites
Not a very good night and then I was up much earlier than the others to wash, shave and take Sam for a walk. It was sunny but became even more windy as the day wore on. Certainly not a day for going out to sea in a boat! Breakfast rather late and then we all got ready and set off in the Range Rover for Potter Heigham. Lathams car park was full and so we went opposite and spent 50p on a public car park space. With the wind very strong by now, we only needed the back windows very slightly open to offset the sun and keep the car from getting too hot. Morning coffee in the Lathams refreshment place and then a look round the store. I wanted rather longer to look at the fishing tackle but will have to go back another time.

The journey to Winterton with Sam being a bit troublesome. Either he is getting too big for the space in the back, or the journey to Scotland taught him too many bad habits as he is now leaning forward into the passenger compartment. We will definitely have to get a dog guard in our new vehicle. There was quite a few people at Winterton but the beaches and sand dune are so big there is space for everyone. The gale was off-shore and so, in the lee of the sand dunes and with the sun on our faces, we got quite warm and comfortable with my parents' deck chairs and wind break. I had to put Sam on a long lead to stop him running off when we were not watching, and we sat that way for some time as the girls dug holes in the sand and played games.
As the clouds came over, Diana and I then went for a long walk with Sam over the dunes and then we all packed up and had refreshments in the beach cafe before driving back. A rest for a while and then I took Diana to see our neighbours and James and Bernice Dunhams' new Ocean 42 boat which is so big I cannot help shudder to think of the task in keeping it clean. Diana came with me and Sam for a walk after tea and the girls did help me weed some of the gravel afterwards but then they settled down in front of the TV whilst I finished the job. A nice bath and hair-wash got rid all the sand from today's windy day at the beach. I have decided that I should take Sam to the vet whilst we are in Norwich. I found a "tick" parasite on his ear and his tummy is covered with bites from something or other.
