Debbie's 14th Birthday tea then packing on the eve of my Scottish Trip on a busy day of council work, executorship, and paperwork. A fine day turning chilly in the evening as the sun set and the breeze stayed from the north-east.
A full day of paperwork and organisation that started with an early and long walk with Sam to make up for yesterday. Like all canine friends, he soon recovers and forgives! A morning first attending to the Heronshaw planning problem, sending faxes here, there and everywhere and then trying to complete all manner of correspondence on behalf of Mum's estate. I had to write again to organisations who would not answer letters promptly and had also to deal with a sad negative response from Mum's old neighbours and friends, Fred and Marie.

A sunny day for the County and District Council Elections which I finally took under my wing and organised for the day.
Our Liberal Democrat party gained the Eaton’s County seat, retained Priory, and held on to its District and Town Council by-election seats and thus took outright control of St Neots Town Council
A sunny day greeted me as I rose early to tackle an election day. I had not helped my colleagues for a long time, and I wanted to assist in the run up to the day but my Mum's funeral had put that out of the question. I exercised Sam, had a quick breakfast with the family and then got over to the village hall Polling Station at the start of polling at 8.00am. I had no idea as to how well organised we were but at least could establish that our telling had started all right.

Home to Paxton from Norfolk via Stanton where I found that nobody had been tending the garden so that I had to cut the hedge and mow the lawn myself before I could get to the pond. I found just one of the large Koi left in the pond and added it to two goldfish and loaded all three up in some large plastic bags.
I let my political friends know that I was back in Paxton this evening with some time for polling day tomorrow.
A little late to bed and then found it a bit hot to get off to sleep. Furthermore, I could not relax until I found and killed the gnat that had been buzzing around! Sam was up before me this morning and, even though I was awake before 7.00am, it was nearly half past before I was out and ready. The truth was I was so tired from yesterdays' exertions that I could barely move for a while. Apart from feeding, walking the dog and washing up, I only packed my things before leaving Ropes Hill Dyke.

A dry and sunny today becoming cooler later with warnings of an overnight frost for my visit to Harnser, where my first task was to mow the lawns in Horning and to seed the new one after raking it over.
I opened up the Paxton Princess to air the cabins and then went shopping before preparing for Scotland. Training Sam all day
Up early and out with Sam in what has become our latest routine. He was quite obedient and caused no trouble even though I made minimal use of the lead. Some time for him in the garden and another walk over to the bus stop with the girls. Diana took off for Cambridge to see her parents and do some shopping and I loaded up the Range Rover and got Sam aboard. A short chat with Bill and then away. Quite a lot of lorry traffic today, but then it was really the first weekday because of the Bank Holiday. Even so I had time to stop for a mug of tea and a bacon roll and still made the trip in two hours.
