Home to Paxton from Norfolk via Stanton where I found that nobody had been tending the garden so that I had to cut the hedge and mow the lawn myself before I could get to the pond. I found just one of the large Koi left in the pond and added it to two goldfish and loaded all three up in some large plastic bags.
I let my political friends know that I was back in Paxton this evening with some time for polling day tomorrow.
A little late to bed and then found it a bit hot to get off to sleep. Furthermore, I could not relax until I found and killed the gnat that had been buzzing around! Sam was up before me this morning and, even though I was awake before 7.00am, it was nearly half past before I was out and ready. The truth was I was so tired from yesterdays' exertions that I could barely move for a while. Apart from feeding, walking the dog and washing up, I only packed my things before leaving Ropes Hill Dyke.

To get to Stanton, I drove the way through Norwich and round Diss so as to be able to drop in on Lings to see if they had any gun slings or camouflage gear. They did not but I got some other things that will be useful. I telephoned home and to Freda's, hoping for news of the place at Stanton but, upon arrival, I found that nobody had been tending the garden so that I had to cut the hedge and mow the lawn myself before I could get to the pond. Given that Fred and Marie are to take the place over, and that Freda, Alf and Chris are to get the money for it, I would have thought that one of them would have looked after the garden in the meantime!
I found just one of the large Koi left in the pond. There had been three until last year but two died much to Mum's anguish. I saved the third after taking some time to catch it and added it to two goldfish and loaded all three up in some large plastic bags that I had brought with me. I completed the journey back with an hour to spare before tea and that left me time to get the fish treated for parasites and safely housed in the quarantine tank. Sam's evening run went well and then I rested for a while before going through my mail and making some telephone calls.
I let my political friends know that I was back in Paxton with some time for polling day but found that the arrangements for tomorrow were rather lacking. I shall have to be careful not to be critical and to just present myself as a helper rather than a leader or organiser which will be difficult for me. At least the weather forecast is fine which will help to get people out to vote anyway.
