A day of office work on my late parents’ estate and a visitor from Mann Egerton who would sell me a new Range Rover and take the old one and Rolls Royce in part exchange.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Norman Lamont has gone and with it a new government cabinet re-shuffle has taken place
Another full day at my desk, interspersed with sessions walking the dog in the rain as it was a day of dampness and drizzle. In the last couple of days, I have managed to accompany the girls to the school bus stop with Sam and they have appreciated this. My work consisted first of completing the present round of letters and claims for my late Mum's estate. I ended up writing to Freda with the new address list, copies of my letters and sending the entire batch of cards and letters we had received from well-wishers in case Freda wanted to take the process further. Off to St Neots to post all these letters and to make more withdrawals from my executors account to settle estate bills.

Day at home working on my late mother’s estate as her executor. Also time out to progress the possibility of selling my Range Rover and Rolls Royce
I had a very full day of deskwork with the estate affairs of my late mother featuring prominently. I first arranged to pay all her outstanding bills, then progressed the claims for insurance and other investment repayments. Then the long list of correspondence which took me late into the evening and into the night. I updated my parents' list of addresses and then wrote thank-you letters for flowers, donations and other particular tributes. The word-processor was a great help but still the names and addresses had to be processed and checks made that I had not forgotten anything or had any misunderstandings.

A trip with Diana and her mother to see Hitchin and then time on my journal and grooming Sam before driving to Sawtry and having dinner of a Broubster hare with the Blooms
By prior arrangement, Diana had allocated this morning to go over to see Hitchin with her mother. They had lived in both Hitchin and Letchworth for many years until some 20 years ago and it was a bit like a trip down memory lane. I opted to join them because I was market trading in Hitchin at about the same time and then, once married to Diana and living in Shefford, we used to go into Hitchin a lot for our shopping. First, I walked Sam and accompanied the girls to the bus stop. He is now very good and can be walked to heel without a lead past other dogs, schoolchildren and bicycles though I still put his lead on for safety near a main road.

Updating my finances, balancing my accounts and then lunch and shopping with Diana at Brampton Garden Centre before collecting Steven from Sawtry.
I decided with Steven that there was not really a future in hiring out my Rolls Royce and so will now be looking to sell it and to buy a new Range Rover with the partial proceeds.
After a return to my customary morning routine of feeding the dog and then walking him with the girls to the school bus stop; I then had a bit of a scramble to get through the mail and pay all our bills and sort out cheques for inpayments both on our account, the children's and of my late mother. Just about ready for midday when Diana returned from the shops and was ready to come with me to Brampton Garden Centre for a lunch of soup and to get some things that the gardener had requested.
