Daniella's 11th Birthday
Daniella's 11th Birthday

Invited to join the present opening on Della's 11th Birthday. Managing some organisation with respect to the FOCUS advertising plan to put things back on the rails.

This was Daniella's 11th Birthday and I was invited to attend her birthday tea later on.

Both she and Diana had kindly agreed to leave the present opening until then and I looked forward to this happening. In the morning, Wiggly was early away to her course and I got up with her and made her breakfast and saw her out.

Then over to Paxton here I collected Della from the house and walked her to the bus stop as it was her birthday and promised to see her later on.

A little time dead-heading the garden roses, watering plants in and out of the conservatory and then I approached Di about whether she wanted to join me for a Pizza Hut lunch and afternoon film in Bedford but she said not as she was making the cake for Della.

Back to Montagu Street with Sam and the morning making some telephone calls, clearing up and doing a few things.

I called around and spoke to Sally, Percy, Terry Thayer, Chris Howes and others and did some organisation with respect to the FOCUS advertising plan to put things back on the rails.

Time for a quick haircut (at the Market Square barbers who I think cut it to short) and then by arrangement to drive down to see Derek Giles for lunch at a pub near to his workplace in Biggleswade.

It seems that both he and Sandie had been round to see Diana for a chat and had got the message that she was cut up and wanted me back and his purpose was to talk me through things and see whether there was any chance of me reconsidering as it was so sad.

I said not as I felt at the moment but who would know in the fullness of time. I particularly asked him and Sandie not to blame Wiggly as the dye had been cast in my marriage long before that with Irene being the first time I nearly left Di.

Back for Sam and then along early to The Hayling View for the birthday tea. Diana had done well with the cake and sandwiches and we all enjoyed them; sang Happy Birthday and she opened her presents.

She really liked my painting pads and the telescope which I said I would come back for to show her how to set it up. She had many other presents too, in fact most of her list, but not the Sega games thing that we disapproved of.

This done, I took my leave of them and came back. The eve of the Tory leadership election with many worried faces and much doubt as to the possible outcome.
