After a day working in Horning driving back to St Neots where Wiggly arrived late and very drunk which was embarrassing when Sally called round!

I had the longest lay in for a long while and so it was around 8.20am before I woke up and went downstairs!

The builders were already tapping away on the neighbouring site and I think it was that sound that woke me or I would have slept longer. They had already called and put the spare key through the door but not disturbed Sam evidently.

A long time having breakfast, shaving, showering and getting dressed and then, as it was still raining, I even did the washing up before getting out with Sam around 10.00am.

A fair run in the drizzle and then off to Wroxham to get some money and shopping there. I came back with the outboard motor tank refilled and several bottles of distilled water with which I could top up and condition the ships batteries.

I had eaten lunch in Hoveton and read a paper to keep up with things. The main project after lunch was to clear up in the Harnser lounge and to fold and put away all of the bedding into the cupboards both there and in the attic room. I ended up with the place quite tidy and the surfaces wiped clean to reduce the dust.

It was late afternoon by now and so it was a rush to walk Sam, pack and load up the car for the trip back. I got to Montagu Street by around 7.30pm but it was much later before Wiggly arrived.

I used the time to settle in and type up this day's journal after logging on and reading all of my messages from CIX. In fact Wiggly arrived after 11.00pm; having taken the same plane as that always intended rather than one earlier.

It seems that her company had booked some super-economy tickets and so it would have been an extra £42 for both Charles and Wiggly to go earlier. This would have not been too bad but she had failed to telephone me and even this was forgivable as it would have been a struggle to work out the Belgium telephones.

What I could not forgive her for was arriving home having had dinner and being drunk having had god knows how many lagers. I have been worried about her drinking in times of stress and the eventual toll it will take either in addictive or health terms. Being so meant that I could not take her out for a social drink or even talk properly to me about things was too much.

I tried to be understanding but she knew me too well and so we had to have it out in the end as she thought I was about ending our affair or something. A takeaway Chinese meal, mostly for me and then to settle in for the evening.

I had brought Sam and the car round and who was to arrive later, but Sally at 11.00pm! She just had to see my car there and, with Wiggly the worse for drink and her and Terry doing the distribution work it just had to look bad as if we were snogging and slacking.

I felt that if Wiggly had been all right, we would have been out eating together at the time and it would not have mattered. To bed in such difficult circumstances and to make matters worse, my skin irritation had now turned into a major aggravation and I was writhing in discomfort.

Making love could have been one way out of it but I did not want to whilst Wiggly was still drunk as still grumpy with her. A difficult night.
