The pound has hit new lows against the German Mark and the Chancellor and Bank of England Governor and interest rate rises seem to be on the cards.

The Right Rev Anglican Bishop Rawcliffe, now 73, has spoken out that it is cruel for homosexuals to be expected to ignore their sexuality.

Another good training session with Sam, with whom I am getting more understanding that of late.

Once back, I was fielding the aftermath of the St Ives meetings with Angela and the St Ives Branch. Percy had taken along Charles Looker with him to see Angela but this interview had not gone well, with Angela misunderstanding its purpose and misconstruing his motives.

He was also possibly a bit clumsy and unnecessarily shocked and offended her in the process. Her husband, John, had also taken offence, asked them to leave and then neither of them went along to the Branch Meeting later.

In essence, she admitted being indiscreet and talking to her Conservative sister about the contentious LibDem meeting and was sorry about it, this being out of character, but felt that too much was being made of it.

The following St Ives Branch meeting also went badly, with those present being predictably incensed by the latest missive from Stuart Littlewood, challenging Angela's candidature and Chris Slee's Chairmanship. Chris had resigned as Chairman and Peggy Batt as Secretary.

Things were certainly hotting up, but then later Percy received the FOCUS copy from Stuart Littlewood after Percy and I had cooperated to leave him no option to circulate his own version.

Lunch of soup with Di and then a rush to get some more deskwork done before I made a last-minute decision to book tickets for the evening match at Carrow Road, check that Jim was available and then drive up and back to see it.

This was a good idea as Jim had been very low with problems of job insecurity, was having his latest counselling session in the afternoon and appreciated a chance to get out. I was treated to tea again and then stayed overnight.

We thought that Norwich played well against an in-form Sheffield Wednesday side and that they also battled and kept their tactics and shape.

Most of the crowd were upset at another goal-less draw and were barracking the players and management by the end of the match which I felt was a pity and counterproductive. Jim's counselling had gone as well as could be expected and he was in better spirits by the end of the evening.

I drove back quickly and, from the end of the match at 9.07pm, was at Louise's place two hours later. Her Town Council meeting had gone quite well and finished earlier and so she was pleased to see me.

I clumsily upset her by telling her of the Tory plans to attack her for poor meeting attendance but then we had a drink, went to bed and both enjoyed a very fulfilling lovemaking session and then slept well until morning.

She was up early, driving in to change some slides for a meeting presentation and I stayed behind, did the washing up, gathered up and put out the rubbish and then set off!
