Another sunny and warm day at Broubster, bailing out the boat and observing many skeins of migratory geese flying high overhead having come from Iceland and other northern parts.
I also saw a fox stalking a hare on my forest road but of course there could be no shooting as it is forbidden on Sundays
I was up and out early before breakfast on Sunday to have an early opportunity to spy the geese now that I had arranged for permission to shoot them on Lochs Thormaid and Saorach. Back for breakfast and then at Broubster all day; bailing out the boat, zeroing in my rifles and setting out the decoys on the loch to attract the geese. This also involved rebuilding the hides.

The 630 mile, 13 hour drive to Scotland to inspect my estate and start my sporting holiday deer stalking, fishing and rough shooting over Sam.
Catching up with Ian at The Forss House Hotel and visiting my plantation and loch later.
I undertook the 630 mile journey after a call at 4.00am, started at 4.30am and ended at 5.00pm, some 13 hours after. This did involve some lengthy stopovers for Sam for his food and exercise, but was a tiring journey nevertheless. On arrival, I was put in one of the ground floor annexes that provided self-contained accommodation and in which I could keep the dog if I had to.

After a further walk with Sam, more work on Lawrence Road before packing the Range Rover on eve of departure before a pleasant evening out with Diana, watching the film, "The Fugitive" which was a suspense horror. The weather was again nice today rain clouds were gathering.
The day started with a walk for Sam and then a session over at Lawrence Road. I went over with Bill to continue working on the garden and also checked on Nigel's man to ensure that he was able to get on with the door replacement all right. We ended up coming away with three trailer-full's of tree cuttings but the result was a complete transformation on the house. Then the afternoon packing up the Range Rover to be ready for the earliest of starts in the morning for my trip to Scotland. A pleasant evening out with Diana, watching the film, "The Fugitive" which was a suspense horror. We enjoyed it immensely and were still home in good time for an early night. The weather was again nice today for me to pack the car but rain clouds were gathering.

After an involved training session for Sam, I took gardener Bill to help cut back invasive vegetation at 18 Lawrence Road as I bought some new panels and post sockets and repaired the tumble-down fence and the transformation drew much comment from passers-by.
Daniel received four letters today; two with job leads and two more from female admirers - probably Dawn and 'Tricia.
I was a little slow to get going today after yesterday's journey and task of moving things around. I was the last down to breakfast with Daniel hogging the EDP and no mail of interest and so got out with Sam for a run across St Neots Common. My latest technique of using a swatch to keep him back is leading to him walking to heel much more reliably. He was also good on his evening walk later but was very excited to see the gardener and Daniel and nigh on ate them both with his interest in holding them with his mouth! Together with holding him back from flushing game without command, this will be his last lessons to learn.
