Working at my desk on a warm and humid day drafting a press release and delivering it before attending an HDC Planning Committee meeting this evening. Home to prepare my Rolls-Royce and The Lady as the weather forecast is fine until the end of the week Andrei Gromyko has died in his 70s
Quite a warm and humid day today, with a high-pressure weather system centred over South-East England. It was a day at my desk to firstly list the vital administration jobs I had to do and then to work my way steadily through them. I ended by drafting a press release giving my views on the provisions for Paxton under the new District Plan then, I delivered copies to each of the Parish Councillors and then the newspapers in St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives.

A more relaxed start to the day before taking down the ‘Bouncy Castle’ with Daniel and John law before undertaking an even big task with Debbie, travelling to Godmanchester for her to take part in show-jumping events for five hours and win two rosettes. My parents then visited later and my dad’s swollen ear is of acute concern.
A little lay in and then up for a nice fried breakfast now that the ducks are laying again. I fed the fish and did the chores and then it was time to take Debbie off to her horse riding. We had fitted in an event in an already busy weekend. I drove her to Godmanchester via Offord and we started a visit that lasted five hours. I entered Debbie in the novice show-jumping and then the open pony event. She cleared nine out of the 10 jumps in the former but failed the other and was eliminated.

We commission a ‘Bouncy Castle’ for 17 guests for Della’s birthday party and they enjoy bouncing, swimming, games and their teas before Debbie’s friends take over. I was scheming today to resist certain aspects of the Paxton Parish plan. Gorbachev tries to quell nationalism and ethnic violence in certain Soviet provinces, Sir Geoffrey Howe is off to Hong Kong to meet demonstrators angry at the government’s decision not to take refugees as the Tories trail Labour by 10% in the opinion polls
We were all a little slow to get going this morning and then I had to do the conservatory and husbandry chores. The fish are looking well, apart from the blemishes on the new Sanky. I made a few phone calls after my morning meal. Parish Vice Chairman and Planning Chairman, Graham Mulchinook, was not very interested in discussing the new plan for Paxton which upset me, but I spoke to John Grosvenor and he is pursuing his new job as a Parish Councillor and acting for me at the ‘Sports for All’ meeting on Wednesday. Diana went to get the ‘Bouncy Castle’ for Della’s birthday party but when it arrived it was covered in tar spots and we had to get St Neots tool hire to come and clean it off whilst we went to have lunch.
