Working at my desk on a warm and humid day drafting a press release and delivering it before attending an HDC Planning Committee meeting this evening. Home to prepare my Rolls-Royce and The Lady as the weather forecast is fine until the end of the week Andrei Gromyko has died in his 70s
Quite a warm and humid day today, with a high-pressure weather system centred over South-East England. It was a day at my desk to firstly list the vital administration jobs I had to do and then to work my way steadily through them. I ended by drafting a press release giving my views on the provisions for Paxton under the new District Plan then, I delivered copies to each of the Parish Councillors and then the newspapers in St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives.

This evening I went to Pathfinder House for an HDC Planning Committee meeting. I was pleased to see the two Huntingdon out-of-town superstore applications turned down and then also the Grafham Water carbon reactivation process. Home to put the Rolls-Royce batteries on charge overnight and to plan work on loading and preparing The Lady for tomorrow. Fine weather is forecast until the end of the week. The engineering union, the AEW, is joining the railwaymen for their one-day strikes and the government are muttering about strike bans by law. The ex-Soviet President and Foreign Secretary-Andrei Gromyko has died in his 70s after surviving over 40 years in time and leaders from Stalin to Gorbachev.
