This morning, on a cooler but fine day with still no sign of frost I was still thinking of Dad at Addenbrookes and hearing no news on his intended treatment, when I received planning papers on the proposed extended use of the Little Paxton gravel pit road and so started a campaign to inform my residents of its implications, printing out details and cycling around the village to deliver them to affected parties.
To Bury for an SLD campaign meeting with Percy and then back to Pathfinder House to overturn a blatant Amenities Committee petty and partisan move by the Tory leadership to turn down a modest £200 Little Paxton grant. There has been a US backed move to topple Gen Noreiga of Panama
An unsettled day as I was not going to see Dad at Addenbrookes and yet I was still worrying about the results of his brain scan and doctors consultations. A morning at my desk dealing with correspondence and then this afternoon visiting Dad in Addenbrookes, where his brain scan had taken place but the results were not yet known, and now his dignity if adversely affected by incontinence.
An HDC Economic Development Committee this evening where content was so sparse that they agreed with my motion to consider its future viability. Neil Kinnock carries all before him at the Labour Party Conference and the Channel Tunnel overruns budgets and suffers delays.

All sorts of matters were dealt with and the morning was successful. This afternoon, I went to see my Dad at Addenbrookes. He had moved to another room to leave his last one free for a burns case that needed to be near to the nurses. His new room had an ensuite toilet and view of the open countryside.

A drizzly day to start the new month on a more restful day, as I was not visiting my dad a trip to Willington garden centre to buy some tropical plants, a reorganisation of the conservatory and then, with Daniel’s help, covering the swimming pool and switching off its heater at the end of another season.
Trains full of East German refugees are allowed to leave for the West, making some 30,000 in the last three months. Archbishop Runcie criticises the government for lack of social concern and the Labour Party rejects proportional representation
The first day of a new month and of a new week. Today had been drizzly with a fine mist of rain in the air just about all day. I hoped that I could avoid getting cold as I did not want to give it to my Dad before his possible life-saving operation. For once, I was not visiting Dad today (as Mum was going) and so I could relax a bit more.
