An early morning planning in vain to get Debbie early to her horse riding in damp and cold weather and then more success exchanging my Rolls-Royce wheel for a trial run. We visited dad in Addenbrookes again this afternoon who looked a little tired.
This evening to the the KSSC AGM/parents evening where I was elected as a committee member when we had really attended on the chance of seeing our children’s teachers.
The Congress of the Hungarian Party votes to give up communism and Gorbachev is in East Germany urging reform.
I retired to bed at 11pm last night, but I was surprisingly restless during the night until we laid in a little until 7am. Then Di jumped up in a panic, so as to get Debbie to her horse riding early. In the event, the fellow rider did not wait for her and so it was all in vain anyway. This morning, I worked on the Rolls-Royce; put the repaired tyre back on the car and the refurbished wheel back into the carrier.

After another late night and a slow start to the day, I set off for Cambridge, and went together with Di to the instrument shop to buy a Boosey and Hawkes flute for Debbie. After some more financial chores and a trip to buy some things from the garden centre, we drove to Offord to buy her a new saddle for Sundance as well and then had lunch at The Little Chef.
This afternoon, I visited Dad again and then took Di to an evening history club lecture by St Neots Chemist, Jim Calcott. There are talks at last on the ambulance drivers pay dispute and Gorbachev is visiting East Germany for its 40th anniversary
After another short night for me following a late, midnight, bedtime, I was slow to rise and then a little late to breakfast. As I fed the Koi Carp this morning, I noticed that the Hariwake Ohgon has the infection coming back, which is a shame as he seems quite healthy otherwise. There was quite a lot of mail this morning and the post seems to get ever later.

Tired from lack of sleep on a bright and sunny morning after a cold night, I went out to change the Rolls-Royce spare wheel and give it a complete polish. I was tired after yet another late night and with a headache from lack of sleep. I still made breakfast with the others and a couple of Nurofen tablets made me feel better. This morning was bright and sunny and so I went out and worked on the Rolls-Royce. I swapped over the spare wheel with the one with a slow puncture and then set about giving the car a complete polish which I finished by the end of the morning. Lunch with Di and then this afternoon, I went over to Cambridge to hear the news on Dad I dropped the tyre offer ATS for repair on the way.

I was slow to wake on a chillier morning and, after waiting for the mail in the conservatory, I prepared this evening’s St Neots Museum fundraising committee meeting. After lunch, I visited my dad in hospital who seem to be the same awaiting news of his operation tomorrow. Members did our best this evening as we allocated tasks without any additional help. The East German refugees are in the news as Neil Kinnock’s Labour Party conference continues to go well for him.
After a very late night I was slow to awake this morning. I tended the fish and conservatory and then sat there reading the paper and waiting for the mail, which was arriving late. I did some more work on my preparation for tonight’s meeting before lunch and then went to see my Dad in hospital this afternoon. He seemed about the same – still lucid and we talked about his childhood and his dad who died when he was young. The decision will be made tomorrow as to whether to give him the operation and I left him in good heart.
