A better day clearing gutters and putting up Christmas lights after a bad night with Sam much disturbed. We had a surprise visit from Daniel and Angela today and then, this evening, I did some more work and then sat with Diana and watched "Casualty", a hospital TV drama series
Sam had another bad and disturbed night. He first woke up and would not stop barking after a house-full of guests left the house at the bottom of the garden, although they were switching on headlights and banging car doors etc. Then he was awake again for half an hour around 5.00am until I went down there and made him get back into his kennel and go to sleep. Now that he knows he has to spend the night outside, there seems to be no harm in going out and making him stop barking which I shall do from now on. In any case, I cannot sleep when this happens, and it leads to far less disturbance with the neighbours who have to be taken into account.

I got up early this morning just in case he started up again, but he slept on and so I updated my journal for a while. We had a surprise visit from Daniel and Angela today, dropping in on their way to Cheshire. They had only intended to stop and make a cheese sandwich, but I persuaded them to join us for lunch as we were just going. This made a party of seven for The Bridge Hotel in St Neots as Debbie had her friend Jo for an overnight stay. I worked quite hard today; first clearing out all of the gutters and down pipes on The Hayling View and then dressing the building with the Christmas Lights that go around each of the four balconies.
This took all day apart from the time with the dog, but I did manage a bit of shooting with my air rifle, missing a couple of wood pigeon before I realised my rifle sights needed adjusting. This evening, I did some more work and then sat with Diana and watched "Casualty", a hospital TV drama series, until we retired for an early bedtime hoping that Sam would not give us another disturbed night.
