Getting the handyman and gardener to apply the second coat of paint on the woodwork of the conservatory and taking a trailer of rubbish to the dump

After walking Sam on a warm but muggy day, getting the handyman and gardener to apply the second coat of paint on the woodwork of the conservatory and taking a trailer of rubbish to the dump.

Then out later for our first Eynesbury Canvassing getting 11% of the second polling district canvassed and were 8% ahead of Labour on the statistics at the end of the night.

The day started sunny and clear but then got muggier as the time wore on and it was quite warm, humid and oppressive by this evening. To make it worse, the still air wafted the unpleasant smells across from the St Neots sewage works opposite.

After breakfast, I took Sam along by the gravel pits but could not find either the glasses or the rope lead that those girls with the Newfoundland lost yesterday. Once back, I chatted to the handyman and gardener and got the two to work together for the morning, getting the second coat of paint on the woodwork of the conservatory woodwork.

First, I got Bill's help hooking up the trailer and accompanying me down to the dump to get rid of our store of accumulated rubbish. Then a series of telephone calls to marshal canvassers for the first week of election visits and I did manage to pin quite a few down. A nice lunch a little late with Diana and then more calls in the afternoon and a game attempt to clear my desk and get the rest of the information into campaign manuals.

Time to update the computer and check it out prior to the evening's activities and then also to print out road’s lists for Eynesbury in a format of walks and to index them on the map. I sent Diana into St Neots to expand and create two copies of the enlarged map and then there was just time to walk Sam before tea. I let him play with a few more dogs on this walk to help him over his nervousness of others. A quick change and then out to spend an evening’s canvassing in Eynesbury.

Only Wiggly out with me tonight but we got 11% of the second polling district canvassed and were 8% ahead of Labour on the statistics at the end of the night. A quick drink at the Cambridgeshire Hunter with Wiggly, containing myself despite her short dress and body language and then back to key in the results and update my journal for this first day of the election campaign.
