Celebrating Della's actual Birthday, opening presents and cards after which I drive the Reliant to Elsworth where it passes its MOT test. Then to take Della and Naomi for a ride to the playing fields on a fine and dry day but the weather will not be suitable for a sea trip for a few days due to the easterly winds.
I had a lay in this morning and found that the rain had persisted through the night, leaving the ground quite wet this morning. We started the day with Della opening her presents and cards on her birthday after a long lay in. This was disrupted by the arrival of Sandie Giles who had some election copy from Ross McKay to type into the computer. I left her to get on with it whilst I had my breakfast before editing and printed it out afterwards for her to take back copies. Back to my Weatherfax for a while and then set off to St Neots Amenity tip to dispose of a whole load of domestic rubbish. I then drove over to Elsworth as a trial run to see how much of a problem I could anticipate in getting the Reliant there after lunch. I measured the distance as just over ten miles but there were many hills and bends that looked like testing the pre-war van.

I was attending the conservatory as Daniel was due to maintain the swimming pool for his new paying job. Much time then spent on my new Weatherfax images and so less for my other work until later. Another constituency meeting in the evening about plans for the forthcoming Liberal Democrat conference but I spent time starting the process of by-election planning for Eaton Socon identifying people not away on August 8th.
I slept well last night after a few late nights recently and then was up and about to get ready for breakfast. Daniel was late up again and so he came down for his own meal much later. I just tended the conservatory as the gardener was working today and Daniel was due to clean the swimming pool for the new daily arrangement of £5 per day to earn his pocket money. It was fine and sunny, but I was inside reviewing my stored weatherfax images this morning and printing them out with labels etc. I was not really getting on very well with my other work until after lunch and then I managed to do a bit at my desk.

As my cruise was delayed, I played with my Weatherfax and then updated my journal articles before booking my Reliant in for an MOT in two days time. Then a party meeting this evening as my Town Council colleagues struggled with their plans and we heard of the Eaton Socon by-election being called for August 8th. The news is of virtual civil war in Yugoslavia as the government tanks are surrounded by rebel forces and have to fight their way out.
With no immediate hope of getting off on my motor yacht, I settled down at home today to play with my weatherfax using the automatic receive facility and the amplified aerial. This was a very time-consuming process as each fax takes over ten minutes to receive and then adjustments have to be made at times in-between. In the end, I seemed to be getting the system to produce the desired results, even if the quality was not all that brilliant. Today, I also updated this last couple of days' journal and summarised the month of June and, as if it was the beginning of a new month, the weather today was warm and fine so as to give me the confidence to phone and make an appointment to get my Reliant to an MOT testing station on Wednesday.
