The day settling in to The Paxton Princess in St Neots for the day as I completed some repairs and improvements before we cruised on to The Anchor in Tempsford where Daniel joined us with Angela for the night.
We had a good night and without disturbance and then walked into St Neots and had breakfast at the Harvest Bakery. This saved cooking on the boat. The meal was a bit cold, but we enjoyed it nevertheless and then spent the morning shopping in St Neots. We ate lunch outside at Keys Burghers and saw the Smith family eating there as well. In the afternoon, I worked on the power supply for the 'fridge, re-connecting it to the traction battery set and adjusting the thermo-stat so as to give it a less-demanding duty cycle. It should now last several days.

Completing our preparations and my accounts and arrangements to leave The Hayling View for start of our Summer Cruise, just locking downstream to the Riverside Park to stay overnight and eat out at The Bridge in St Neots. T the sun was shining as we set off after it was drizzling down first thing.
I was a bit slower to rise after the late session watching the girls on TV; but was still able to update my journal before breakfast. The rain was drizzling down first thing and we hoped that it would clear up in time for us to set off this afternoon. There was so much to do this morning, that we ended up struggling to get ready in time but there was no particular hurry. The Norfolk architect faxed through plan and elevation drawings for our new boat shed and we commented on and approved the design so that they could be used as a basis for a planning application.

Preparing to leave The Hayling View and complete my paperwork and political contributions before I attended the Southoe Parish Council meeting and took the girls to their swimming lessons and prepared the Paxton Princess.
The London meeting of the G7 group of the seven largest world economies invited USSR President Michael Gorbachev for the first time as Europe wanted to help him move towards openness and democracy and the Anglo/American alliance did not. The weather stayed fine today but tonight, and tomorrow is forecast for some rain clearing up later.
I was awake just after 7.00am today and went down to see Diana in the kitchen and have my morning drink. She was a little grumpy and down about getting the boat ready for the cruise and was feeling that the new waters would not be the same as we were used to, nor so familiar but then we both agreed that we were a couple of stick-in-the-muds. I showered, shaved, and wrote up yesterday's journal before breakfast and did my chores and this gave me time afterwards to do some more preparation for the boat trip. This morning, however, I tackled the mountain of paperwork that had built up on my desk; most of it concerning the District Council and my local political activities as the by-election was still in motion.

After the girls were off to school, we drove to Cambridge to find Di’s parents struggling with health issues before I had a better parliamentary campaign meeting at Glisson Road.
Home to work on Lady Martina and to receive cruising information from the Chambers before off to a Village Hall management meeting this evening where Alan Cromack again failed to turn up so I had to take the chair. It had been quite nice today but there were some heavy showers between the sunshine that were not fully expected.
Up early today; listening to the shipping forecast for interest and then out to my chores on a fine morning with the breeze from the south-west. I also mopped down the boat which was getting a little grubby after my efforts the other day and then put out the gardener's money in the shed for him to collect later. To my office for the task of updating yesterday's journal and, as a result of all this, I was quite hungry for breakfast. We got Della early to school afterwards so as to make our trip to Cambridge and there we met Di's parents for coffee before I went to Glisson Road for a parliamentary campaign meeting as usual.
