A gloriously sunny and warm day and a house-full for Della's 8th Birthday Party as we prepared the back garden with chairs, mats and a bouncy castle with two extended dining tables for the eighteen party-goers. Della blew all of her eight candles out and they all sang her "Happy Birthday".
I was very slow to get up and then read the last couple of days' newspapers before going back to shower and dress. This, with Daniel's late appearance and occupation of the lounge last night, led to Di getting more and more anxious about getting things ready for the party until she ended up crying but got the family's help and co-operation thereafter. It was another glorious day of sun and warm weather and so we set out the house and back garden with chairs, mats and a bouncy castle for the party. We needed two extended dining tables for the eighteen party-goers and, by the time Debbie came home from school at 12.30pm, things were just about ready and we went out for lunch.

Both Little Chefs on the A1 were busy with the staff actually overloaded and unable to cope and so we tried the Bridge Hotel in St Neots but they could not accommodate us. Eventually, we settled into the Cross Keys Burgher place which was cheap and cheerful, if a little hot, but they deserved our business. Della's party went very well and they all enjoyed alternate sessions bouncing, swimming and playing games with a proper sit down tea and birthday party cake. Della blew all of her eight candles out and they all sang her "Happy Birthday". Some of them were reluctant to go in the end and their parents had to drag them out of the pool and off of the bouncer to collect their party bags, balloons and goodies. Nigel popped by during all this and brought me a 25Kg drum of pool chlorine for only £20 and I showed him my banana tree in fruit and photos of my Norfolk building work. Chrisula, Chas and the girls stayed on after the party for a while and then we cleared up as darkness fell. I played a long game of tennis with Debbie as I knew I would not be able to do so again for a few days.
