The weather today still cold and windy with the rain coming in spells that I managed to avoid. Off to Mill Meadow but angry to find that the entrance had been blocked off and Cliff and Diana Roberts of Mill House knew not why. Over to Huntingdon for the election press launch of the Liberal Democrats.
I found poor Percy seems to have aged, and his health deteriorated lately but Ross was very positive with Louise about their campaign for Eynesbury.
This was to be the last full day with Sam before he was off to the boarding kennels for the week, and I aimed to use the opportunity well and got out with him. Off this morning heading towards Mill Meadow but angry to find that the entrance had been blocked off and a sign erected with the aim of excluding people and dogs.

I walked on to St Neots Common instead and was happier to see Sam quartering well across the grass in a good pattern. Of course there had been much marking by other dogs that was a distraction but he handled it quite well. A chat to Cliff and Diana Roberts of Mill House on the way back about the new sign excluding dogs but could not find out who had erected it.
Once back, I telephoned Theoben Engineering of St Ives and arranged to take my Rapide 7 in for upgrading to FAC. power later. Out with Diana, the girls and their friends for lunch as Della had Katie Morris to stay and actually behaved much better than usual. The drive to St Ives where the receptionist at Theoben undertook to get the rifle done within the next week whilst I was away. Back out with the dog after and we ranged across the gravel pits. just missing a bird crouching on the bank by the coating works.
Soon after, I remembered that I was due over at Huntingdon for the election press launch of the Liberal Democrats and I had to hurry back, miss tea and change to drive straight over there! Of course, the venue had changed which took time and the meeting was late anyway. Poor Percy seems to have aged, and his health deteriorated lately. He was limping along in front of me as I arrived and seemed troubled later with the problems of managing the group and the branch, even if Sally had been a great help to him.
The meeting went well as I had also arranged to meet the St Neots area people afterwards for an update on what was happening. Percy and Terry seemed to have got the manpower sorted out for the Offord and Buckden elections and Ross was very positive with Louise about their campaign for Eynesbury which was encouraging. Home quite late and then my warmed up dinner to eat before bed. The weather today still cold and windy with the rain coming in spells that I managed to avoid.
