Another poor night. I do not know why I was not sleeping so well but as likely reasons the nights are quite warm, and I also had a lot on my mind at the time. Just like yesterday, the weather started misty and then continued brighter until the sun came through and it got quite warm.

Out with Sam for some dummy retrieving and then left him at home for the rest of the morning whilst I took Diana to Cambridge for morning coffee and a chat with her parents. They seemed fine and had received the cash for their Spanish villa sale. Diana talked all about our trip to Scotland and showed them the photographs she had taken. I then left her to look around the shops whilst I checked out the bookshops and stationery shops until we met back at the car park.

I then drove to St Neots so that we could have a fairly slimming meal at Brackenbury's before coming home for the afternoon. A number of telephone calls to party colleagues sorting out the arrangements for forthcoming party elections and meetings and then time on the phone to Nigel and our letting agents about the final preparation of Huntingdon Street. A walk with Sam in the company of a neighbour who owns a springer spaniel with whom I did some retrieving training.

It was good for Sam to watch the other dog and realise that he was not always going to be given the water retrieves. The springer was fair enough, but Sam had the advantage of being able to mark better in the long grass and was just faster and more direct in everything he did. The other chap must have been quite impressed. Home for tea and then the evening working on election preparations and political work.

I updated the master list of organisational names and details and made several copies for the manuals and then Wiggly came round with the Hilton Vote Today leaflets and returned my 4/86 for me to use on polling day. Then Robin Martlew dropped by with the latest EARS manual and we chatted about St Ives. Up late after updating today's journal and relaxing with by bedtime Bournevita and banana before turning into sleep, well satisfied about the final arrangements for Thursday.
