More than 40 years, told day by day
A full day visiting Norfolk early after breakfast and a walk for Sam in Thetford. Arrived in Horning to see Doris, Jack and Bob Howlett before edging and clearing the overgrown lawn with our powerful skimmer.
We then spent the afternoon working on The Paxton Princess; Diana hoovering and cleaning it inside as I used our pressure hose to clean off the outside.
Back to review our canvassing returns where Labour were neck-and-neck with us on the Richmond Formula and the Tories are running a poor third.
We had been toying with the idea of driving over with Diana to Norfolk for the day to get the garden done but then the weather began to look unpromising with showers early in the day.

After getting out with Sam on another fine day, the drive to Cambridge to Eadon Lilley's for lunch and agree a £600 cost to get my old Dad's car door replaced.
Then some delay as Diana decided that she needed a new bra from Boots and so a rush back to get back to set up our campaigning centre with Sandy in Eynesbury.
The initial results were very good and had us in the lead but with a long way to go.
Up and out with Sam on another fine day. We had arranged to visit Cambridge again today and to discuss the latest progress of my old Dad's car. Charles had obtained an estimate of some £600 to get the door replaced and wing straightened, and the work was already underway.

After walking Sam on a warm but muggy day, getting the handyman and gardener to apply the second coat of paint on the woodwork of the conservatory and taking a trailer of rubbish to the dump.
Then out later for our first Eynesbury Canvassing getting 11% of the second polling district canvassed and were 8% ahead of Labour on the statistics at the end of the night.
The day started sunny and clear but then got muggier as the time wore on and it was quite warm, humid and oppressive by this evening. To make it worse, the still air wafted the unpleasant smells across from the St Neots sewage works opposite.

Sunday 26th June 1994 - Several sessions leafleting with sisters Wiggly and Joanne after a good training session with Sam in the morning sun who was woken by Debbie swimming in the pool.
Helping two girl owners train a black and hairy Newfoundland to retrieve in the gravel pits
I slept well until 7.00am when I was awoken by Sam whimpering and so looked out to find Debbie swimming in the pool and unsettling him. Down to breakfast and surprised by the number of people up so early this morning.

A recovery day walking Sam after a thunder and lightning start and then struggling with election plans whilst trying to keep my LibDem colleagues working together and rising above their disputes.
On to the Little Paxton School Fete later after the disappointing girls’ eye tests.
John Major and his colleagues seemed to be getting into another pickle over the appointment of a successor to Jaques Delore as EEC President.
The background to last night's meeting was a fierce storm with thunder and lightning and we would have hoped that the air was cleaner today but it was still close and muggy. Staggered up and, after breakfast, took Sam for a long walk across the common to relax and give him some exercise after a couple of days' shorter walks.

Struggling to complete my Rolls Royce repairs for lack of parts and then taking Diana along to Della's Kimbolton Prep Sports Day.
Later, struggling to unite members during the LibDem Branch AGM and having few afterwards to help with sorting out leaflets for our forthcoming by-election campaign.
It was another very hot and humid day and, after my recent late nights, I was not very well equipped to cope with it. A rush to get out with Sam and then along to Cambridge Street Motors to drop off the Rolls Royce for the repairs to be done before taking Diana along to the Kimbolton Prep Sports Day.
