More than 40 years, told day by day
After walking Sam, off to Pathfinder House to correct Wiggly's nomination form to the Returning Officer’s satisfaction, so she is now a candidate. Then back to progress her Eynesbury election planning and surviving her attentions
A repeat of the routine where I walk Sam before 9.00am and after 5.00pm and try to tackle my work in the meantime. The poor thing still seems to be suffering from a cough which could either be due to the clouds of pollen and seeds which billow up as he runs across the fields or even his latest sin of running off with the door mat and chewing it up.

An organising day spent tending Sam with his cough and then preparing the Rolls Royce for its MOT retest and struggling to re-insure my Land Rover Discovery.
The evening trying without success to contact people about election preparations and so turned to my journal and other general correspondence and telephone calls.
Another one-day rail strike as the government still prevents British Rail from settling with the signalmen's union.
I opted to walk Sam early and late today so as to have much of the working day in my office. The poor thing is coughing occasionally at the moment but then there is so much pollen and vegetation seed around that it might just be that.

Spending the day taking the Ford Escort to Bar Hill and then driving to Horning and back.
Taking breakfast and walking Sam at the Thetford five-way roundabout and then strimming at Ropes Hill Dyke until my arms were numb with vibration.
Back home, much talk and activity about Wiggly’s election campaign
Rain greeted us as we got up especially early to travel and spend the day in Norfolk but it did not put us off. A short walk for Sam whilst Diana took the Ford Escort to Bar Hill and then I drove over to pick her up so that we could go on our way.

Some time with Pete and Bill, getting them organised to work together on cleaning off the conservatory roof and decorating the lantern woodwork as my Rolls Royce needed attention to pass its MOT.
Election jitters as John Roscoe let our Eynesbury candidate down over her first election leaflet
It was duller and cloudier than of late but still very mild; stuffy even. Sam and then time with Pete and Bill, getting them organised to work together on cleaning off the conservatory roof and decorating the lantern woodwork.

Clearing out the garage for my Rolls Royce to be stored after my morning dog walk with Sam before over to Hilton to join the colleagues celebrating the recent by-election success.
With Derek's help, we circulated with a clipboard and obtained a long list of helpers for Wiggly's forthcoming campaign.
The latest problem is Ross McKay who had seen the Town Crier letter from Michael Pope and Sandy Giles criticising him and wanted them to retract it publicly or get his response.
A lay in and rest for the first time in a while and then up to shower before breakfast. Out with Sam on a walk across the common in weather that was quite warm but overcast and windy. Just a few retrieves, some obedience work and a few chance encounters with other dogs.

After a cool start to a warm day, I followed up on my local party politics efforts and then coached Debbie's 1500m efforts at Kimbolton.
Then tackling the Rolls and taking it for a successful run before watching World Cup football before and after taking Diana to Bedford to see the 6.00pm performance of "Angie".
It was cooler early and late but still warm during the day as we went about our business. My first priority was telephoning news of my conversations with Derek Giles to Sally and Percy and to get Louise's copy faxed to John Roscoe for advice and help.
