Foregoing a trip to Cambridge with Diana, I spent today at my desk replying to mail and reading the financial newspapers before making a start on the swimming pool, brushing the sediment of algae off of the sides and administering a large dose of chlorine later. I ended this evening watching Australian feature film on the TV before retiring to bed together soon after 11pm
A good night’s sleep, disturbed only briefly by a downpour of rain during the night. This summer has been ideal with only one rainy day since early July and all the rain falling at night. It was increasingly windy however and there was storm damage elsewhere in the country. I made a fair start but declined to go along with Diana to Cambridge as I cannot justify a trip out every day.

A day trip to St Ives in fine but windy weather after a heavy rain storm overnight where we met Mr and Mrs Chambers and then took the long walk to LH Jones boatyard to see the second hand boats for sale between morning drinks at the Harvest Bakery and lunch at the vegetarian café for. A good look round the stalls on market day and bought some good things.
More work on my press cuttings whilst watching televised test cricket as the South African State President PW Botha resigns and the Police Complaints Authority have now to investigate allegations of corruption in the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad.
A poor night again, but I still got up in good heart and decided upon a day trip to St Ives. I first ordered my papers and briefed Joan and Pete. Diana deferred approval of different working hours for Joan this week she feels that they are being changed too often and affects our ability to have a routine to adhere to. We set off for St Ives with the sun shining again after a bout of heavy and stormy rain overnight.

After a poor breakfast, on another warm day, but windy this time, I did my watering and feeding and then worked on my accounts and records, continuing this afternoon to extract press cuttings about me and Little Paxton before watching some TV as I worked. There were some good reviews on my book.
In the Lebanese battle, the Christian forces having held off the Syrian-backed attack, more ships carrying toxic waste of been turned away from British ports by direct action and Civil unrest continues in Belfast on the 20th anniversary of the British troops being sent in
A glorious night sleep and I was not awoken until around 9pm, when I came down to a long-awaited fried breakfast. The pity was, that Di had lost my mushrooms given to me by mum and dad (and there were no eggs) but I enjoyed breakfast all the same. This morning, I did my watering and feeding and then worked in my office on the accounts and records but only had time to make a start. This afternoon and evening, I read all the July local papers and extracted the press cuttings about me and Little Paxton. There were some good reviews on my book, which was much appreciated and understood.

After the stress of getting Daniel and Debbie out early today for their trips, during which time Daniel forgot to take his packed lunch, I deserted my paperwork and took Di and Della to Ely for a day trip. We had coffee by Riverside, lunch at Bonnets, and then looked at a range of boats in Ely Marina. News today of an IRA bombing attempt on the Protestants ‘Apprentice Boy’ march and more rioting in Ulster.
A rather trying time this morning. We had been put out by Diana’s need to get Daniel ready to leave by 5:40am and then Debbie by 7:30am! A rather poor night sleep ahead of this worry and then Daniel forgot to take his packed lunch in the melee which upset Diana. I decided to take her out for the day to make up for this. First, I watered all the conservatory and flower basket plants, fed the fish and birds before we went. I decided to take Di and Della to Ely to see the boats, have lunch at Bonnets and visit the shops.
