After a noisy night in Langley Dyke, and an unsuccessful early morning fishing, we cruised upstream to Norwich for a latish lunch, stopping at the Brundall Riverside stores for some shopping. Some ball games with the girls, a stark dinghy ride to the head of navigation and then an early night. The news seems to be about the Middle East and hostage negotiations.
What was to have been a quiet night in Langley Dyke started with the raucous behaviour of a boat crew returning from the Wherry Inn and then continued with arguments amongst a troublesome flock of ducks. At 6am, it was cock pheasants making their vocal and territorial claims over parts of the adjacent wood. I got up at 6am, dressed roughly and tried fishing but only had a few nibbles and one small fish.

After our night in Reedham, we cruised to Berney arms and then took the Little Lady and speedboat across Breydon Water to Great Yarmouth for the day. A last chance for the girls to have fun and enjoy land before lunch and speciality ice creams on the pier and a trip by Landau to Pleasure Beach. Debbie joined the boys aboard the speedboat on the way back but suffered a badly bruised hand. We then moved from the Berney Arms to Langley Dyke where Diana and I took a walk.
We spent the night in Reedham and then I decided that we should go to Yarmouth today. The morning routine (with Gary and inclusive participant this time) and it was 9.30am before we managed to set off. We moored The Lady at the Berney Arms and then took the Little Lady and the speedboat across Breydon Water. Daniel and Gary were in the speedboat (and me with the family in the other) and they took great delight in racing past us leaping on our wash and spraying the saltwater all over us!

An early morning for me, visiting Diana and trying some fishing before breakfast in the coolness and mist before the sun came up and we went swimming. Gary Skinner arrived with his dad to stay a few days and enjoyed playing with Daniel on his new speedboat before we moved to Reedham and had a barbecue on the quay after which the boys had a trip to Great Yarmouth. A public enquiry concludes that policing was mostly to blame for the Hillsborough tragedy
I awoke early in the Burgh St Peter Marina and visited Diana’s bank before getting up. Then dressed and out to try my hand at a bit of fishing in the marina. There were sprays of bubbles around, but I’d only managed to catch a single small fish when I gave up. The thing was that, after my experience with eels here (and I caught another large one last night, I was reluctant to fish on the bottom or bait up the swim. It was quite cool and misty before the sun came up and then hot and sunny thereafter.

After a quiet night moored in the middle of Oulton Broad, we took a trip in Little Lady across the broad for some shopping in the chandlers as the girls played in Nicholas Everett Park. Then a chance to sail in our Blue Peter, as The Lady dragged her mud weight such that the Little Lady had to pull her out of the reeds. Back to the Burgh St Peter Marina, an evening meal at the Waveney Inn carvery with Diana and a walk before bedtime.
We had a very quiet night moored in the heart of Oulton Broad after the noisy powerboat racing of the previous evening. A breeze sprang up this morning and prevented me fishing and so we all got into the Little Lady and cruised across Oulton Broad to do some shopping. Daniel and I made a beeline for Jeckells, the chandlers, and the girls went on the amusements and rides in the Nicholas Everett Park.
