After the recent tiring days, a welcome day at home catching up with the gardener, my mother and the news. A dull and lack-lustre Tory Conference today with a debate on Northern Ireland and it was only the appearance of Margaret Thatcher that livened things up and then she did not dare speak

Lunch and then the afternoon and evening watching the televised world cup rugby with just a few interludes for updating my journal and financial records. Telephone calls to confirm my trip to Norfolk tomorrow and also to agree to go on a "shooting party" with Nigel which could prove interesting.
