The Harnser building work ends (on a day that was fine but a little colder and breezier) with the tiling as I burnt of all the cardboard boxes and other paper etc.
I put Harnser, Heronshaw and the Paxton Princess ‘to bed, paid off both Steve and Alan with due thanks and regards.
Once home, I found Diana relaxing watching TV in the lounge as I got the mail and local newspapers and joined her until bedtime
It was another very full working day with an early start. There were a host of small jobs having to be completed and then, after lunch when I had managed to secure the rest of the wall tiles, Steve and Alan completed the tiling for me. Daniel visited to use my jigsaw again but left much sooner than me as I stayed on late and tidied up the site and secured things ready for the property to be left for a while if necessary. I lit a bonfire to dispose of all the cardboard boxes and other paper etc at the end of the day.

I paid off both Steve and Alan with due thanks and regards for their help and gave what I thought was a fair supplement to Steve for working early and late more than he had missed. Unfortunately, by his demeanour and comments, it was fairly obvious that he was dissatisfied with this amount which was a pity that the endeavour was to end on a dull note. I turned off all the water and the electricity to Heronshaw but left the off-peak immersion heater, the day-time towel rail and the shore-power for the Paxton Princess and Harnser to give both this and the boat frost protection in the event of colder weather coming.
I eventually set off after 7.30pm but had a relatively fast trip and got home about an hour and three-quarters later despite a fuel stop. Daniel was out, the girls settling down for the night and Diana relaxing watching TV in the lounge as I got the mail and local newspapers and joined her until bedtime. Today was fine but a little colder and breezier as the days become remorselessly shorter.
