The Bedford Arms in Souldrop
The Bedford Arms in Souldrop

Liaising with the Wroxham builders and walking Sam before returning to St Neots to spend lunch with a quiet and contemplative Wiggly at The Bedford Arms in Souldrop.

ThisĀ  before going home to put up the Christmas Lights and welcome Diana for a meal at McDonalds and then on to the cinema to see "Miracle on 42nd Street"; a remake of the old film.

I awoke at 7.00am and tried to get washed, breakfasted and dressed before the workmen came at 8.00am but failed miserably.

Sam did not make too much fuss and when I was ready, I took him for a long walk across Crabbetts Marsh before leaving for home. I met Arthur Edmunds walking his old Labrador on the way, but we just exchanged short pleasantries and said no more.

I loaded up and drove back home where I changed and got ready to start putting up the balcony lights before stopping and going out for lunch. I rendezvoused with Wiggly as planned at The Bedford Arms in Souldrop for lunch.

I found her quiet and contemplative and, even allowing for her being tired, having a tough working day and forgetting her paying in slips to thwart her banking her car insurance cheque, she still did not seem pleased enough to see me.

She was at her rehearsals last night and had drinks with Michael, Richard, Rachel and a couple of others afterwards where they agreed to press Richard to give up his passions for a young girl of nearly sixteen in favour of a 24-year-old, more like Richard's age.

Of course, Michael was a keen advocate for obvious reasons as he is unhappy about Wiggly seeing me! He has given her a Christmas Tree and been invited round this evening to decorate it with her before their St Neots Players Xmas party and further party back at Wiggly's place afterwards.

I left her early for her work and appointment over at Addenbrooke's where I am afraid that they are going to find another wart if my observations are anything to go by!

I was back at The Hayling View before Diana and it was a rush for me to put up the balcony lights, clean out and hoover the car and get the dog walked before the girls were home and it was soon time to take them out for a family evening.

I had been vexed by the state that they had left their bedrooms in, and I insisted that they clear them up before we went. A meal at McDonalds and then on to the cinema to see "Miracle on 42nd Street"; a remake of the old film. We all enjoyed it, and I cried throughout.

The girls misbehaved a bit, and I had to discipline them which, taken with my housekeeping purge earlier (when I had a go at Diana as well) made Diana anxious and discontent but I could not let them grow up like that even though she would allow it.

At least Diana had taken delivery of her new dishwasher, but the trims did not fit of course even after them trying to adjust them! Home latish and then I took a bath, a hair wash and then updated this last two days' journal before retiring just after 11.00pm. Diana had stayed awake, and we went to sleep together.
