Extremely busy ‘Shortest Day’ as I have my ‘Longest Day’ working on PR and Company Administration Day with Personnel and Payroll Issues for good measure as security hunts follow in England and the Republic for IRA members after the Harrods car Bombing.
There may have been busier days in my career but I doubt it. Early to the office and first to prepare the remaining three Byte Shop AGMs and Annual Returns. Also the Directors meeting minutes and consents to make Diana the Company Secretary of Glasgow. A chance to review the mail and my in tray before joining our publicity people. MEPR, to be briefed by Mike East before the arrival of Roger Woolnough, writer for the Times Newspaper, for an interview. He will be writing a profile of me as a personality and the company’s progress in a January edition which would suit us well for our Which Computer Show publicity.
Then to see Peter King over our lunchtime break together, reviewing a range of outstanding Byte Shop staff problems, offers and reviews, leaving a few minutes in early afternoon to eat my sandwiches. Then an interview as we meet the favoured candidate for the job of Quality Engineer. After to meet Ian Nickson and review the progress towards a government grant in Support for Innovation before joining the rest of the senior management team in the boardroom to resolve stock policy and receive the remaining reports from yesterday on sales forecasts and customer analysis. A complete evening spent at the office collating all Byte Shop annual returns against tomorrows AGMs, writing up the meeting decisions and minutes from the Comart Reviews, and appraising the Comart payroll and signing cheques accordingly. Altogether today, working from 8.00am to 10.00pm but on this occasion pressing JRL, IN, and DF to stay and complete grant applications and sales/production requirements. News today of continued recovery of the mutilated Harrods car bomb victims and of security hunts in England and the Republic for IRA members.
