Sailing on The Blue Peter
Sailing on The Blue Peter

After a quiet night moored in the middle of Oulton Broad, we took a trip in Little Lady across the broad for some shopping in the chandlers as the girls played in Nicholas Everett Park. Then a chance to sail in our Blue Peter, as The Lady dragged her mud weight such that the Little Lady had to pull her out of the reeds. Back to the Burgh St Peter Marina, an evening meal at the Waveney Inn carvery with Diana and a walk before bedtime.

We had a very quiet night moored in the heart of Oulton Broad after the noisy powerboat racing of the previous evening. A breeze sprang up this morning and prevented me fishing and so we all got into the Little Lady and cruised across Oulton Broad to do some shopping. Daniel and I made a beeline for Jeckells, the chandlers, and the girls went on the amusements and rides in the Nicholas Everett Park.

Then morning drinks together, more shopping, lunch and all back across the broad once again. The breeze had freshened, and I opted to rig up the Blue Peter and sail around the broad. Whilst I was away, The Lady dragged her mud weight and was in the reeds by the time I had returned! Much consternation all round but Little Lady dragged around the bows and we got off safely.

A cruise back up to The Waveney Inn (Burgh St Peter) and there the girls had a swim whilst we fuelled up the boats and filled up with water. We stayed at this Marina for the night, Diana and I having a formal dinner at the carvery restaurant whilst Daniel fitted the new steering wheel to his speedboat. With a new trim and seat covers, it now looks very smart.

Di and I took a 4-mile walk after dinner to the nearest village where there was not much there except for plenty of bats, owls and other wildlife flitting around in the dusk. A fine day fresh and not too warm. No time or opportunity to check on today’s news.
