I slept well despite my foot hurting after its new dressing and then Daniel and Debbie had their first day back at school as Di took Della back to the doctor’s. Then a deal of correspondence and a visit by Nick Wells late this evening where I helped him the Bury FOCUS newsletter.
Mr Smith has taken down all the Offord Riding Stables signs casting doubt over Debbie’s riding activity continuing there. European anger over Britain deciding to end South African voluntary investment sanctions unitarily, an IRA bomb destroys an army recruitment van and damages a shopping centre in Leicester and the world's exchanges look very shaky again
It was a good night's sleep, although my foot was sore again due to yesterday's new dressing. I managed to get washed and dressed myself in time for an early breakfast. Today is the first day back to school for Debbie and Daniel and we were all up and about early as a result. Diana took Della into St Neots to the doctor's surgery again and she was examined by the nurse. It will be Thursday/Friday time before the results will be known, thus delaying her treatment until she recovers!

To the doctor’s today to have my foot dressed and to seek advice about Della’s urinary infection and little progress made in respect of both matter before "elevenses" at Tooks and lunch at the Little Chef. It was another wild and windy night for Daniel's last parent's evening where we all learnt that he must put in more than the bare minimum of work to get his grades for University.
After ambulancemen in Merseyside voting for an all-out strike, both sides have now agreed to go to ACAS, and a Tory M.P. is found guilty by a Commons committee of failing to declare his interests when accepting a £40,000 Saudi payment and then speaking in the House in their cause
A slightly restless night, but then slept in until quite late with the rest of the family doing the same. Di telephoned Joan and asked for her not to come over as she needed the day to unpack and clear the house. It would also be a rest for Joan's back which was still sore and a problem. Di also telephoned the Doctor's surgery and got a nurse's appointment for my foot to be dressed and a Doctor's appointment for Della to be seen about her urinary infection. I then washed my hair and went through the bath routine after the several days in the boat. Daniel had got his friend Gary Skinner to come around and we then all left for St Neots. The others went shopping as I went to have my wound dressed. The problem is that they seem to insist on removing the scabs and opening up the wound each time they dress it which keeps it open and sore from my point of view. My foot was therefore a bit worse after this experience.

After spending the night at Great Yarmouth, and watching the fishing boats make their way out to see this morning, we made our way back to Horning, stopping off at Stokesby on the way. Once leaving the boat, we made our way home, calling in at Mum’s caravan in Stanton for a chat about the future plans for her and eventually arrived back in Paxton and were all pleased to be home.
News whilst we were away revealed the likely 24% pay rise for top civil servants which is further bad publicity for the government's fight with the ambulance drivers. All 14 A320 Airbus aircraft in India have been grounded following safety fears when one crashed, killing 90 passengers. The Channel Tunnel project is beset with cost escalation and the banks are freezing payments unless the management problems can be sorted out whilst over in reactionary South Africa, now 10,000 fascist whites march in protest over the release of Nelson Mandela.
Scientific information has been released to link the incidence of childhood leukamia to their fathers' exposure to nuclear radiation at Sellafield re-processing plant
We woke up quite late and had a slow start to the day. There were many sea fishing boats passing us and going out to sea with complements of anglers on board ready for their Sunday recreation. When we set off, it was against the ebbing tide but our twin engines still made good way against the flow. We cruised on and stopped at Stokesby, where the girls had a fun time on the childrens' playground before we walked around the village and did some shopping. We would have had lunch at the pub, but they were being re-decorated and were not serving food and so, because it was getting late, I cooked a meal of tomato soup and sweet to follow and then did the washing up. Diana had wanted us to cruise on to Horning for lunch, but it would have been too late.

After a fairly early start, Daniela and I shared the helm as we cruised via Acle Bridge to Great Yarmouth, mooring up at the Yacht Station at close to low tide. lunch at McDonalds and then by taxi to the sea front where the girls enjoyed Wally's Windmill full of children’s' play equipment for wet-weather entertainment. This evening, Daniel and Diana went to the cinema to see another film whilst I stayed in the Paxton Princess to give my foot a rest and look after the girls as I also studied my equipment manuals
It was a fairly early start on Saturday with me getting washed and dressed first and then taking the helm as the rest got ready and had breakfast and then Daniel taking over whilst I ate mine. The weather was quite reasonable, and the tide was with us and so we made good way. We tried stopping at Acle Bridge for water but the boat-yard owner there told us rather grumpily that his water was switched off, but we think that he was just trying to get rid of us. Onwards to Yarmouth, mooring up at the Yacht Station at close to low tide. We walked into the town centre and had lunch at McDonalds, exchanging a voucher we had won for a "Big-Mac Sandwich" and getting several more tickets. The idea is that you are given these "Trivial Pursuit" question cards and you have to scratch off the boxes to find the right answers and win more food. We keep the cards and look the answers up in a dictionary and so win every time which seems a bit of an obvious way to score, but we suppose most people cannot wait and do the puzzle there.
