The slow routine to get washed and ready as we did so tentatively in the cold and then the family went shopping and I stayed behind at the boat servicing the engines and waiting for the sign-writers to visit after which we had changed "Rolyat Princess" into "Paxton Princess". We set off and went downstream to the Helska Leisure Centre where we moored and the family went swimming but I could not because of my foot and then back to the moorings again to arrive by dark.
I was the first awake on Friday morning and switched the heating up high and made the morning drinks so that things were warm for Diana. It was a slow routine to get washed and ready as we did so tentatively in the cold. After breakfast, the family went shopping and I stayed behind at the boat servicing the engines and waiting for the sign-writers to visit. I managed not only to change the engine oil on the Perkins 4108, but also to get at the oil filters and change them too. This involved squeezing under the floorboards to get to the port engine oil filter which was quite an achievement.

We start our Norfolk holiday aboard Paxton Princess after a clear and frosty night, once I had just about recovered from my foot injury and visited a very full Hinchingbrooke casualty department on. My foot was a little sorer after having it re-dressed but I still managed to walk to the car and then drive home where the family loaded the car and we set off to drive to Norfolk, arriving at Heronshaw about mid-afternoon.
We decided to stay at the moorings overnight and, after some tea, we used our mobile telephone to check the cinema programmes in Norwich and then chose the late film "Honey, I've shrunk the kids" to watch together as a family. The 'fridge was working very well and we had the shore-power to provide our mains heaters left switched on low all night to keep the chill off the air
Slept well again and I hardly notice my foot now. I was slow to rise after my late night and came down to breakfast in my dressing gown again. Fed the fish and then through the bathroom routine with Della missing it for once at Di's request to save time. I shaved etc and dressed so as to make my way to the hospital. I drove myself and found Hinchingbrooke casualty department very full. We had a clear and frosty night, leading to a wave of motoring accidents this morning. I had taken plenty to read which kept me occupied but a man next to me chatted about the unfairness of the government in its treatment of the ambulance drivers. I found out that he knew and respected Marion Woodbridge but did not know that she had been admitted to hospital with "a spot on her lung". He will now contact her and offer his sympathies. My foot was a little sorer after having it re-dressed but I still managed to walk to the car and then drive home.

Despite Di getting me a Valentine Card, I was not able to get out to reciprocate and Della did not want me to get out of the bath today although my foot is now healed so that I can get around with only discomfort rather than pain. Percy and Sally came over to progress our FOCUS advert campaign after which I laid out the newsletters before spending some down time watching TV sport. Thatcher is in a minority of one amongst international leaders with her views on reducing South African sanctions and Abbey National put their mortgage interest rates up by nearly 1% to 15.5%
Despite my late retirement, I had a good night and my foot is now healed so that I can get around with only discomfort rather than pain. Di got me a Valentine Card but I was not able to get out to reciprocate. The bath routine and today Della did not want me to get out. I am like a big dolly being washed for her! I spent the whole day on these advertisements now that my boat project was out of the way for the time being. I phoned Percy first thing and suggested that he collect Sally Guinee and then come over to see if the Eaton Socon ads page could help in securing adverts elsewhere. Sally had got conjunctivitis in her eyes and did not like to go out as she felt shy.

As the high winds and rain seem to be prevailing throughout February, with my leg improving I was able to spend time in the comfort of the conservatory again reading the day's mail and paper whilst feeding the fish and then quite a good day at my desk, finishing off my boat folder and chasing up my colleagues on the project of securing advertisements for our FOCUS finance campaign and then laying out the adverts with Percy here early, and Derek Giles until quite late to bed
Another good night with my leg improving all the time. Down for breakfast in my pyjamas and dressing-gown and my bath again. These last few days, my bathing has become quite a social event with Diana and Della washing me and all singing the song "Washing the Dad" to the tune of the pop song "Walking the Dog". Once dressed, I went to the conservatory again and read today's mail and paper whilst feeding the fish.
