Apart from an unremarkable evening Parish Council meeting, I was working all day at home on my accounts, building society investments and other administration. Daniel was away at his Cambridge job again, bringing back new disk-checking software.
It was raining hard again this evening and many of the roads were under water for a while. A last-minute US proposal for talks with Iraq does not seem as if it will lead to anything.
I was slow to get up again today, but Daniel was away early again to his Cambridge software job. It was back to work again for me this morning as I went through my outstanding accounts and organised my Building Society investments. They are always changing the types of accounts and interest rates so that the investor is easily left on a lower rate. I made up my latest action list and then cleared a few administrative items off of it. Daniel came back this evening with some new disk-checking software and thought that he had corrupted my hard disk (with all of my programmes and data on it) but managed to restore it without loss.

Tonight, I went to the Parish Council Meeting which was a rather frustrating affair. First, the Planning Committee had been cancelled and I was half an hour early and then the meeting was rather long and drawn out and very hard going indeed as a poor start to 1991. I was as much to blame as any, I suppose, trying to correct a number of nonsenses that had emerged on the new standing orders. Home quite late and then to bed tired but did not sleep until later still. It was raining hard again this evening and many of the roads were under water for a while until the rain soaked away. Still the river and water table are very low. There is a last-minute US proposal for talks with Iraq, but it does not seem as if it will lead to anything as the prior statements are so intransigent.
