Progressing Financial Summaries and supporting local colleagues with Council Affairs after a slow start on a very wet and stormy day which was quiet with Daniel off to work and the girls at school. A painful non-ending visit from Chrisula was frustrating.

I was slow again to get going this morning and had to come down to breakfast in my dressing gown. Daniel was off to work even though he was not any better than yesterday, but he did wait long enough to collect his letter from Angela from the morning mail. Both Della and Debbie were at school today which made the house very quiet and gave Diana a real chance to get on with some housework. The weather started and ended the day very wet and the wind rose to gale force again as the day went on. I went out to do my chores and then spent the day in my office reconciling my Abbey National cheque account and updating my Income and Investment Summary.

Several telephone calls to and from my colleagues about recent and forthcoming council meetings. Diana had her sister-in-law, Chrisula, and others to visit this afternoon and had the greatest of trouble getting rid of them in time to make tea which was a bit frustrating. This evening, I decided to visit the St Neots Town Council meeting at the Priory Centre to give Derek and Michael some support and got Sally to do the same. From Geneva, hopes were raised as the USA and Iraqi delegations met for three sessions of two hours each and the speculation was that there was some negotiations taking place that could lead to peace. Then all the hopes were dashed and they ended up as far apart as ever. In the aftermath of the rail crash, the death toll is still one but the number of injured has risen to over 300 as the train is cleared away for investigation.
