It was my last day at home before a trip to Norfolk and I was anxious to get on. I had my mail to get through and then the final preparation of my tax affairs. This morning, Tricia Bridges-Palmer came round to use my MAC computer to do some work for the Huntingdon Liberal Democrats. She had promised not to disturb me, and I took at her word and carried on working but it was obvious that she wanted my help. I carried on working with the Amstrad, monitoring the Short Wave weatherfax transmissions and sorting out my financial affairs at the same time.

In fact, through being determined to carry on, I achieved quite a good measure of progress and was able to do some filing as well. This afternoon, our swimming pool was quite full of neighbours and visitors who were taking advantage of our willingness to let them use it in this hot and muggy weather. There were warm North-easterly winds from the continent today and this made us all feel very hot. In the evening, I went in shirt-sleeves to the Little Paxton Parish Council Meeting. It was quite a good meeting, with two new councillors, and we covered a lot of ground. Home in time to see Diana before bed, but I stayed up late finishing off my financial affairs and correspondence before going to bed close to midnight.
