After the girls were off to school, we drove to Cambridge to find Di’s parents struggling with health issues before I had a better parliamentary campaign meeting at Glisson Road.
Home to work on Lady Martina and to receive cruising information from the Chambers before off to a Village Hall management meeting this evening where Alan Cromack again failed to turn up so I had to take the chair. It had been quite nice today but there were some heavy showers between the sunshine that were not fully expected.
Up early today; listening to the shipping forecast for interest and then out to my chores on a fine morning with the breeze from the south-west. I also mopped down the boat which was getting a little grubby after my efforts the other day and then put out the gardener's money in the shed for him to collect later. To my office for the task of updating yesterday's journal and, as a result of all this, I was quite hungry for breakfast. We got Della early to school afterwards so as to make our trip to Cambridge and there we met Di's parents for coffee before I went to Glisson Road for a parliamentary campaign meeting as usual.

Charles has a cyst on his eye lid which is causing him irritation and will entail a hospital visit to remove it and Norma has still not recovered from that cold that has been troubling her. Normally in good health, they are both a bit down at the moment. The meeting went well with plenty of ideas and agreement on what to do and Sue Sutton will be working on them while I am away. Murray White, the constituency chairman, gave me a lift back to the Copper Kettle where I met up with the family for lunch. Daniel had not done very well with the garages who were already stocking so many cars that they were not really interested in buying his. Home for the afternoon and I divided my time between doing some correspondence and working in the boat. I mopped away the results of the latest showers and finished updating my log after the sea trip.
This evening, Diana started cleaning the boat and turning out the cupboards and had the boat looking very nice as a result. She is still frustrated at not being able to finish the job because of her domestic commitments. Jason Chambers came round this evening to see Daniel but he had already gone off to see Angela again. He did, however, bring round some information about the North-East waterways and a log book of their last cruise there in 1989 which was very nice of them. I then attended the Village Hall management meeting this evening and was disappointed to find that the Chairman, Alan Cromack, was unexpectedly absent again.
This meant that I had to take the Chair myself which was rather tiring as there were many aspects that had been left to Alan to do and I am getting rather annoyed with him keep putting me in that position without warning and prior preparation. In particular, the new floor is coming up all the time and the maintenance committee never meets and there is the need for urgent action on a number of items. I limited the meeting to about an hour and then came back to do a few more things at home as I was very busy. Later, I sat in the lounge with Diana and we read the Chambers log book and information and realised that there was so much to do and see in these new waterways that we found it quite bewildering. It had been quite nice today but there were some heavy showers between the sunshine that were not fully expected.
