As Di goes shopping and takes the girls to the Puppet workshop in Norwich, I continued staining all of the weather-board cladding and the workmen finished off the dormer cheeks, facia and soffit.
They now have only the valley-boards and some facia at the other hip to do before we are ready for the roofers to lay felt and battens on Friday. The news is of the big ANC rally that ends their week of protest action over lack of democracy in South Africa.
A little later to rise this morning and actually saw Diana get up before I left the boat to start work as she was due to go on an enjoyable unaccompanied shopping trip for once. First, she had to take the girls to a puppet workshop where they made their own puppets and performed with them in a play. Being too shy to go to the Dunham's swimming pool in Smallborough without me, they went to the Helska centre this afternoon, but the girls also accepted an invitation to join the Dunham girls in a trip to the Horning Sailing Club Regatta Discotheque.

They went by row dinghy this evening whilst Diana and I ate at the Chinese restaurant and had a fine meal before collecting Della on the way back, leaving Debbie to come home with the other girls later. During the day I did a prodigious amount of wood-staining, finishing most of the match-boarding for the soffit but realising that the task of staining all of the weather-board cladding would be more than I could manage alone unless I wanted to spend the rest of the month painting! I finished off my working day by creating a mammoth drying frame on a day that threatened showers but stayed dry. The workmen finished off the dormer cheeks, facia and soffit and now have only the valley-boards and some facia at the other hip to do before we are ready for the roofers to lay felt and battens on Friday.
