Still a bit weak and shaky from my cold/'flu I agreed to accompany Di for our Cambridge trip to have morning coffee with her parents in Eadon Lilley's and discuss the predicament of Charlie. Also attended the Village Hall Meeting later. It was increasingly windy and very wet today and then got colder overnight.
I was still a bit weak and shaky from my cold/'flu but decided that I should join Diana for her regular weekly trip to Cambridge. I wanted her to go later and for a shorter time than usual but she was adamant that there was too much Christmas Shopping to do and so we got ready and left soon after 9.00am. We had morning coffee with her parents in Eadon Lilley's and there discussed the predicament of Di's brother Charlie and family. He is still out of work and, because of the way he had set up his finances by working for his own company on contract, is not getting any security benefit or help with his mortgage.

I was fully recovering in health and working at my journal and spending time with the gardener and my girls, getting Della back to practising her piano-playing. Diana is thinking about my request for a dog and, whilst being swayed by the counteroffer of yearly holidays in California, is still very dubious.
Feeling much better today, I got up in time for breakfast and was then able to work at my journal this morning. I reclaimed some thick socks from the wash and wrapped up to keep warm in my cooler office and managed to sit there until lunch whilst Diana went into St Neots to do some chores and shopping. I spoke also to the gardener for the first time in a while and paid him up to date. He managed to clear an enormous quantity of leaves from the lawns but seems to think that there is another mole in the danger area which I will have to deal with. By the end of the day, I had edited and archived my computer journal for both September and October and this was a good job well done; being a mammoth undertaking.

Struggling along to the St James Church Remembrance Sunday Service suffering from cold but could still enjoy Anderson's best beef roasted for lunch. I had visited Dad’s grave yesterday morning, and was upset to see that the cemetery gates had been stolen again by thieves cutting through the hinges and removing them
I was very poorly today, suffering with my cold brought on by the time spent outside and up late yesterday. I had achy limbs and felt cold and so spent much of the morning in bed, reading my book on shooting, "Goose Fever". A long book about a Norfolk man's addiction to the sport and his yearly trips to Scotland where he and his friends had the time of their lives stalking and killing geese. I got up to watch the Whitehall Remembrance Day Service on the TV and then washed and dressed to be at the lunch table as Diana had roasted some of Anderson's best beef which we all enjoyed.

Despite developing a cold I helped set up and enjoy Nigel's fireworks night at Hail Weston House, found and collected Diana’s lost purse from Bedford. My family enjoyed the display with many other guests and I stayed behind after the others to wind down
My head cold was getting worse as I awoke this morning and it seemed that I had inevitably caught Alan's bad cold at the end of the working week. It was not yet bad enough to hold me back and so, when Diana went shopping in St Neots with Della, I drove round to see Nigel to see if I could help him with the set-up of his fireworks display. Though I should have telephoned him last night to ascertain the arrangements but could not, I was still surprised at his lack of reaction and welcome this morning - particularly as he is always dropping in unannounced on me and gets a coffee and chat.
