Most of this day decorating Harnser whilst working in with the road contractors to prepare my boundaries. Then to Norwich to collect my shotgun from the gunsmith and do some shopping and over to Stalham Joinery to order the internal and cupboard doors and furniture for delivery in a few days. Finally, walking around Crabbets Marsh in the evening
I did not manage to get a great deal of work done on Harnser until quite late in the day. I had to spend some time on watching the work on the road and, in view its rapid approach, got my own section ready by knocking down the road-side vegetation and demolishing a section of my fence to give an easier access. I did complete the rest of the coat of primer to hall and upstairs and then mixed some filler and fill in most of the holes in the kitchen, hall and bathroom. Late in the afternoon, I drove over to Stalham Joinery and ordered the internal and cupboard doors and door furniture for delivery in a few days.

A mixed day of shooting, boating and painting as I combined work and play to seek out geese and repair a problem I found on Paxton Princess. I had visits from both the ceiling contractor and decorator today and authorised the Artexing the ceilings for me next Wednesday.
The bad news that the bad news that Range Rover cannot supply a model of the long-wheel-base version without a sun-roof
I awoke early on another cold morning and, after washing and dressing quickly, grabbed a plateful of cereal and then drove out to see what the geese were doing. I checked all of the surrounding farmland and concluded that the geese were flying off of their roosting broads and spending the daytime on the river-side grazing lawns. I took a pot at a covey of partridges to no effect and then saw that there was a whole field full of woodpigeon near to Hoveton Hall Farm that I will have to look in to. I then took the Paxton Princess out for a spin to give it a run after some months without being used.

The journey back to work in Norfolk, calling in at Mann-Egerton in Norwich but finding the new long-wheel-base Range Rover unsuitable, as it started to rain again.
I arrived at Heronshaw to find Ropes Hill Dyke sopping wet after lots of rain with most of the plots under water. I was pleased that the work done in raising my own land was paying dividends. More rifle practice and some phone calls to arrange decorating.
I was very tired this morning after the recent early mornings, and I was dozing in bed with my morning drink and very nearly spilt the hot tea all over me! Quickly showered, breakfasted and then some little time clearing my desk before I could pack ready to go. I had a little time for the gardener who I rarely see these days. It was a struggle to get packed and on my way back to Heronshaw but I was away in mid-morning and had a reasonable journey. A visit to Mann-Egerton in Norwich on the way where I viewed the new long-wheel-base Range Rover and learnt all about it. Unfortunately, the sliding roof that is fitted reduces the headroom and, unless the manufacturers can build a version without it, I will not be able to buy one.

Using my new Rapind-7 air rifle to shoot a duck in Paxton and then driving to see Nigel to compare air rifles where it was far superior. Leaving the task or roasting the duck until another time, I returned to my financial affairs this evening, making some progress, and then decided to leave for Norfolk in the morning. The weather was damp and drizzly for much of today but not cold.
I was awake early again this morning and took my gun down to the riverside and managed to kill a mallard drake with a single shot to the neck. I had to launch a dinghy to recover it though as it just managed to make the other side of the river before it expired. Soon afterwards the complete tribe of match anglers arrived on the meadow and so I gave up and dressed the drake. In for breakfast, a shower and shave and then, once I had gathered my things and cleared up a bit, I drove over to see Nigel and show him the new gun. We tried some targets at 30yards and 50yards and found that, even with his air rifle illegally charged with chloroform, the "Rapid-7" was still faster and much more accurate.
