The Gallopers ride at The Bygone village in Fleggburgh

Horning holiday resumes as the girls had a good day yesterday at Wroxham Library and then at The Bygone Village. They also went to Winterton and swam in the sea much to Di's concern.

I took the family over to The Horning Tea Shoppe by Jolly for lunch and then by car to Great Yarmouth for the afternoon and then Diana to Mr Chann's Chinese Restaurant in the evening. This, as I take stock of Wiggly's news

Diana and the girls had been all right whilst I was away but had been made to hang around unduly by the Dunhams whose girls eventually played with ours for a while. The girls eventually had a good day yesterday at Wroxham Library and then at The Bygone Village.

They also went to Winterton and swam in the sea much to Di's concern. This morning, Di wanted to get away from the girls and so I let her go to Norwich where she had a lovely look round and bought a "Bovis & Buthead" T-Shirt for Daniel as a coming home present.

I took the family over to The Horning Tea Shoppe by Jolly for lunch and then by car to Great Yarmouth for the afternoon. Sam came with us both times and behaved himself well, particularly as I was paying especial attention to his obedience and steadiness.

There was a stiff north-east wind and, whilst the girls were in Pleasurebeach, Di and I watched the harbour at Gorleston. A stupid pair of youths tried to take a 17ft yacht out to sea against the swell and had to be helped by the inshore lifeboat. We watched the whole incident and wondered at each stage whether or not to call up the coastguard on our hand-held VHF radio but the pair refused help from a speedboat, a pilot boat and a hailed offer from the shore.

In the end the situation was forced by their loss of sail, stalling of the small ancient outboard auxiliary motor and their being washed out of the harbour and towards the beach. We exchanged views with a retired lifeboatman during and after the incident.

Once back, we gave the girls tea and then I took Diana to Mr Chann's Chinese Restaurant. The experience does not change as he is in constant and vocal conflict with his wife and family which is embarrassing for me and the other guests. At least Diana enjoyed the meal out and the wine and was happy.
