The day started with me taking the girls to the school bus stop and then forming my Mill Island Pigeon hide after bales of straw had been delivered.

Off to the Peterborough cinema to see the great film, "Corrina, Corrina" starring Whoopi Goldberg.

A sound night's sleep that only ended with Diana bringing me my morning tea.

I opted for a simple wash down and shave so that I could finish my porridge and walk Sam in time to accompany the girls to the bus stop again.

Over breakfast, I noticed a huge flock of pigeons on the rape field opposite and then saw the farmer drop off a dozen bales of straw in the middle as I had requested for building a hide.

I got Bill and Pete to help me launch the Jolley and then loaded it up and cruised over to go and set up the bales and add some foliage to form the best hide I could.

The farm worker had not put them exactly where I asked for them but I remained hopeful of decoying down a few pigeons once they had got used to the new fixture.

I did stay a while and hoped to bag some straight away but I had made too much disturbance and the flock had left the field for the day.

Back across for lunch after first getting Bill to help retrieve my boat. Although I had pulled it well up on a shingle bank, it had drifted across the river and I had cause to suspect the angler who was camped in the same space. A soup and salad and then Diana and I to Peterborough via St Neots.

The building society girls had told Diana to ask me to stop by to resolve a query on stopping two of our four Yearly Plan standing orders and so I went in to sort it out.

I was a bit annoyed to find that they had already got the information they needed and neither them nor Diana had rally given the matter any thought and had wasted my time.

My mood became worse when I could not find Diana in the car afterwards who had given even less thought to how I was supposed to find her.

I passed Daniel in town who was reviewing the new digital cellular telephone deals in the shops and is now dead set on changing his telephone handset and network provider.

The journey to Peterborough was very boring as Diana drove deathly slowly and insisted on playing her "tranquil" tape that we have heard time and time again. The film, "Corrina, Corrina" starring Whoopi Goldberg made up for it and had me in tears several times.

Home after dark and a cup of instant tea for me courtesy of Diana before taking Sam out for his evening walk. I let him run in the rough ground and then walked him around the village roads to steady him to headlights and passing traffic.

Tea of grilled trout and Debbie and Della tried their hands at boning their own fish for the first time. Made Debbie tidy her room afterwards under threat of losing it as none of her friends has such luxurious accommodation.

A chat with Jimmy to make sure that he had my gun certificates in safe-keeping and to exchange shooting experiences. He took Ben beating on Saturday and Jesse today and will always take her in preference to Ben from now on due to his whinging which I think is a good idea.

A call also to Wiggly who was out when I tried but then called me and found me in with my entire family in the office at the time. All left except Debbie who responded to my "Hello Nigel, how are you doing? Debbie can you leave me to take a call?" with "Want to speak to Wiggly alone, do you?" which was just speculative mischief but annoyingly worrying just the same.
