Taking Diana to the cinema in Bedford to see the good film, "The Client" which we both enjoyed.

It was a good day for training Sam as I took him for three sessions to keep him occupied. Firstly, the girls were back to school after their half-term holiday, and I walked them to the bus stop.

Della was very good in taking him there on the lead and he was equally good being taken there. Some time in my office as Diana went out to St Neots to do some chores and I took the chance of telephoning Wiggly after leaving her tearfully yesterday.

I found her in good spirits and pleased that I was proud of her for getting down to work after I had left her and telephoning more of her supporters from last July's campaign and getting them to help with her FOCUS delivery.

Then another run with Sam; this time up to Molesworth where I walked around the newly-planted rape field and spotted a growing flock of pigeons eating the seedlings. Sam quartered some of the setaside as usual but it had been mowed and was less productive than of late.

He got a last run later, after dark, because I spent the afternoon taking Diana to the cinema in Bedford to see the good film, "The Client" which we both enjoyed. In the evening, I popped round to see Nigel (which was my alibi for Di) but really went to see Wiggly.

I was hoping it would be a passionate interlude but she had to finish off the plans for distributing her FOCUS and so I gave her both actual but mainly moral support to allow her to get the job done.

She is really quite a capable person and only needs encouragement. Home before 9.00pm in time to see the second half of a football match on TV and then to bed with Diana. I was restless for some time until Diana got fed up with me and went to sleep in the spare bedroom.

News is of various tourists being taken hostage in far-flung places and also of a resumption in the Bosnian Civil War which looks ominous. The "Tory Sleaze" affair rumbles on and scene seems to be set for a compromise that allows the House of Commons Privilege Committee to investigate the MP's involved.

The Labour committee members resigned at the hearings not being held in public before, but the government have now said that these decisions will be up to the committee themselves.
