A hot month spent working on computer industry affairs, my own investment strategy and sorting my office and systems out as Thatcher was spending the whole month in fights with the unions
A very hot and sunny month to be working during which I was glad to me at home and not in a factory office for what was an active month on behalf of the BMMG using the UK press and my personal status to thwart the BT/IBM venture so that it was abandoned in favour of open network standards. Support was also gained from UKITO and enlisting other large companies like ICL as allies. Using my new STC Executel information Prestel terminal, I was getting the advice and help of established City advisers such as Nicholas de Zoete to invest the majority of my cash in safe government gilts ahead of an expected stock market correction.
The Uk news was of Thatcher being in a continual battled with unions as more and more of them unite against her. I found time with my family for a sightseeing tour of London to also to do some Regents Street and Oxford Street shopping for things including my new video camera and croquet set. We still managed to see many sights and then take the drive in my new Jaguar car to Bude in Cornwall to see my sister and her family. I also bought new cars for Diana and my Mum and Dad.
