Between organising the EXPORT IT conference and re-organising the Comart Company Sales department, sometime this afternoon planning the defence of a County Court Writ and late afternoon being briefed on the Byte Shop Review and planning the recruitment of an experienced company accountant before home to a domestic argument
On time to the office and straight to my full action list of items for today. A tough day as a result with much tension for the girls but a productive one nevertheless. First to telephone my speakers for the EXPORT IT Conference and secure their services, then to dictate a range of correspondence before reviewing the burgeoning Monday post as usual. By 11.00am to press for the sales department job specs to be typed and then to call up David Fear and review the new management structure and agree the changes.
A quick lunch of sandwiches and then to work further on a defence to a Huntingdon County Court Writ which had to catch the afternoon post. At 4.00pm a visit from Jacques Samuels and colleague to discuss with Derek Weatherby and I the confidential recruiting brief for a new Company Accountant. At 5.00pm a meeting with Peter King and John Lamb to review the Glasgow Review Meeting which took place today and also the ACT weekend session from Saturday. We conclude that ACT Apricots will be a good short term tactical sale for The Byte Shop but that, in the longer term, ACT and The Comart Group will be in almost exclusive competition. Late at the office this evening writing out the Detailed Programme for the Export IT briefing and also letters to all and sundry ordering the arrangements. Also to write an organisational memo to all Directors and Managers ordering the management reorganisation in the Sales Dept. Home late and an argument with Di about her retiring early.
