Working with Daniel and his friends renovating his old boat, Aquabean, and also editing and archiving my video films and buying more accessories ready for our impending visit to Thormaid as Diana had some friends round to swim in the pool and has lost a few pounds slimming. The Labour Party shadow cabinets is completed, Liverpool fans involved in the Heysel Stadium riot are extradited and The freemasons are criticised by the Church of England but the government seems to have lost the MI5 Spycatcher issue.
Awoke very early, as the dawn was much colder and brighter than the dusk. Got up, closed a few windows and curtains and then put some bedclothes back on to get comfortable and then slept soundly until the arrival of my morning tea at 7.00am. On with the radio and then up slowly, getting washed, showered, shaved and dressed only just in time for breakfast. The family quite happy at this morning meal. Got Daniel to help me after, to set up all the videos, so that I could copy between them and edit tapes and I then settled down this morning to the process of collating our first two years Broubster forestry filming and getting them ready for another addition tomorrow.
Took most of the morning on this endeavour, but broke off a couple of times to help the boys. They had agreed to start working on Aquabean and so we turned it round on its unstable trolley, then pulled it out onto the lawn by the river with the Range Rover, which was quite effective. Daniel’s friend Steve had joined us this morning and was invited for lunch, and after, Jason Chambers came along as well and helped Daniel to drain his bilges, fibreglass the leaks in the hull, and then start scraping the paint off for a new coat. I went to Little Paxton tool hire and got them a hot-air stripper, but it was too hard on the fibreglass, but they did not charge me as a result. Back to my film archiving this afternoon, this time copying and backing up these last two year’s holidays. Tea and then I showed these recent films to Di and Della, who enjoyed them. As Di had thus missed her slimming, I weighed her at 10st 4lbs (10st 3lb naked) which is a loss of 3lbs on the week and only 3lb to go to win her wardrobe. She had some friends round this afternoon for swimming, including the attractive blond, Liz, who always turns me on. She is now moving away to Oxfordshire, which is sad, but we wished her well. Late this afternoon I raced into St Neots to get more EC30 video camera films and I also bought another 1000MAHr high-capacity battery to last us for our Norfolk trip. This evening I made copies of the old Jackson family video transcriptions of cine film, so that all originals could go into the fireproof safe. Spent some time charging all the camera batteries up, then locked & alarmed the house and wrote up my journal. Today was again sunny, warm and dry and the ground is now quite parched. News today of the final selections of the Labour Party Shadow Cabinet. Roy Hattersley, former Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor, now Shadows Home Affairs, John Smith Industry, and in all a fair balance between soft left and centre right. The 26 Liverpool fans contributing to the Heysel Stadium riot are to be extradited to Belgium for criminal trial. The Church of England has endorsed a report critical of the influence of Freemasons, The Solicitor General has delayed the contempt of court legal moves and the government’s resolve may be weakening in the MI5 ‘spycatcher’ book case. It is being published in the US and copies will soon be available in airport lounges and by mail order anyway.
